Who is 'Alex' in Paradise Season 2?

Paradise is back on Hulu with Season 2, and it has introduced a major ongoing mystery revolving around someone named 'Alex'. With fans being abuzz with speculations around who the person is, a new theory may have revealed who they really are. The sophomore season of Hulu's apocalyptic drama opened with the introduction of brand-new characters from the surface world outside the underground bunker, including 'Annie' (Shailene Woodley), 'Link' (Thomas Doherty), and others. While the much-loved character, 'Xavier' was sidelined in the Season 2 premiere, an important mystery about a certain 'Alex' has gained immense attention, with massive ramifications for everyone in this post-apocalyptic world.

For those who are new to the Hulu drama, Paradise follows the lives of survivors in a world after a nuclear fallout. The show explores the aftermath of how some of them live luxurious lives inside a survival city bunker (which is part of Season 1's game-changing twist). The story is now being further explored in Season 2, which premiered on Hulu on February 23, 2026. However, amid that, fans are wondering who 'Alex' is. Well, the first mention of the person came in Season 2, Episode 1, when 'Link' and his group of survivors' ultimate goal is revealed: to find the underground bunker, infiltrate it, and kill "Alex."

The mention of this mysterious person, 'Alex', is because that throwaway line of dialogue was never explored further in the premiere. Fans have been extremely intrigued, as apart from the one dialogue, there is no reference to who 'Alex' is. Episode 3 confirms that 'Alex' was indeed a person in the flashbacks. It is further revealed that 'Alex' is a she and was 'Henry Miller's' dying wife, who was suffering from Huntington's disease. For the unversed, 'Henry' is a quantum-mechanics professor and the owner of Vestige Quantum. It is a company developing advanced technology, and 'Sinatra's' main target for her bunker-related plans even before the apocalyptic events.

Another shocking twist also revealed that 'Henry's' brilliant protege is none other than 'Link'. Yes! The same survivor viewers met in Episode 1. What is the new theory around who 'Alex' is?

As we all know, 'Sinatra's' main objective is to gain access to a specific technological element tied to 'Henry's' quantum project, "Advanced Wave Functions, Superposition, and Quantum Entanglement." The same has led fans to believe that 'Alex' may actually be a codename for a time travel project, given the presence of the term' quantum entanglement' in 'Henry's' technology. The speculations further alleged that if 'Alex' indeed is a codename, there might be time travel involved, which would suggest that 'Sinatra's' endgame in Paradise is to actually find a way back in time and prevent the apocalyptic disaster from ever happening.

While it would ironically save everyone, even though she is deemed the big bad in the show. Another note worth mentioning is that, at the beginning of Episode 3, other scientists pointed out to 'Sinatra' that one thing she couldn't buy was time, which could imply that this science project is tied to time travel. Additionally, Episode 3's ending also proved that 'Alex' might not actually be a person. This has come after the exchange between 'Carmen' and 'Sinatra', in which they discussed resolving Alex's "power problem". While 'Link's' motivation to kill 'Alex' might be tied to a revenge plot against 'Sinatra' for killing his mentor, 'Henry Miller', more about it will only be revealed once the episodes are released.

Why would 'Sinatra' use 'Alex' for time travel?

Aside from saving the world, fans believe there is another motive for 'Sinatra' to travel back in time. According to the ongoing buzz, it might be so she can prevent her child from dying, which makes sense for many compelling reasons. For the unversed, 'Sinatra's' son, 'Dylan' passed away in Paradise Season 1 after he suffered from a mysterious illness. His death took an intense toll on 'Sinatra' and forever changed her as a person. This also served as a prime motivator for her to build the underground bunker and her evolution as a ruthless leader.

Fans believe that saving her son, 'Dylan', and ultimately saving the world via time travel could redeem 'Sinatra' and transform her from a dangerous villain to a beloved hero. Nonetheless, the catch is that not everyone may know about it if she ends up being successful under the time travel rules. However, so far these are only speculations.
