Pakistani Actress, Mahira Khan Turns Muse For Indian Designer, Sawan Gandhi In Sparkly Monochromes

Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan exudes royalty and elegance as she slips into Indian designer, Sawan Gandhi's sequin and sparkly black-and-white creations.

Mahira Khan is hands down one of the most popular and finest actresses in the Pakistani entertainment industry, Lollywood. The actress has not only showcased her acting prowess and sartorial choice in her native country but also graced Bollywood with her excellent performance in the movie, Raees. It was Mahira’s debut film in Bollywood, and that too opposite Indian megastar, Shah Rukh Khan. Mahira Khan has time and again expressed her love for India, and this time around, the diva tied up with Indian designer Sawan Gandhi and stunned everyone in royal shimmery ensembles. 

Sawan Gandhi introduced his culture-met fashion collection with Mahira Khan as muse

Indian designer, Sawan Gandhi just dropped in his latest culture met tradition collection in collaboration with Mahira Khan. Herein, the ace designer curated ensembles depicting traditional wear but with a modern twist. He curated a line based chiefly on lehengas with unique cutouts and sequins, which elevated the garment by manifolds. For the first design, Mahira was decked in a black slit lehenga with sequin work all over it. The lehenga has a sequin embellished blouse with a cold-shoulder cutout and tassel detailing. The look was completed with a black transparent veil and embroidered dupatta. Talking about this look, Sawan added:

“It was while watching Humsafar that I found my muse, I knew it that I wanted to dress Mahira Khan. It has been a dream in the making, and almost feels surreal now. Mahira is a rare, timeless beauty. She embodies everything I imagined.”

Sawan Gandhi and Mahira Khan gave a sophisticated twist to saree

Next in line was another black number, but this time around, it was an embellished saree with a blazer of the same family. The black saree was sheer and featured the same sequin sheer design all over with contrasting shades of black channelised in it. The blazer had the same pattern design, but the material was thick and had prominent collars to elevate the look into business-festive. Talking about this creation, Sawan shared:

“Fashion is a medium that brings together artists an dcommunities, there are no barriers in fashion. I have always seen Mahir as a muse. She is traditional as she is modern, which is true to my label.”

Sawan Gandhi’s feel-good ivory masterpieces 

Mahira Khan next donned Sawan Gandhi’s ivory masterpiece. The outfit featured a flouncy lehenga with ivory choli and drop-shoulder details. While one sleeve was spaghetti-styled, the other had drop shoulders, giving an illusion of off-shoulder choli. The lehenga was paired with a two-tiered veil ascending to the floor. Sawan Gandhi revealed that his creation is to make women feel beautiful.

The label dropped another ivory lehenga featuring a sequin embellished skirt with a boat neck blouse. The blouse had a wrap-dress-like design with a sheer fabric, which made it modest and elegant at the same time. The lehenga was completed with a sheer vein and a matching purse. Talking about Mahira, his muse, Sawan concluded:

“Mahira didn’t just wear the outfits. She told a story emoting through each picture. She was all the colours between blacks and whites. Mahira is an actor in its true sense.”
