'Indian Idol 16's Republic Day episode was a tribute to Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack's victims' wives also gave their salute to the army.
The Pahalgam terror attack still gives goosebumps to every citizen of India. What followed were days of serious air strikes between India and Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor, in which India attacked a terrorist camp in Pakistan, while the neighbouring country continued to break the ceasefire. Recently, Indian Idol 16 gave tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack and the brave soldiers who fought in Operation Sindoor. One of the victim's widows also appeared on the show.
Kashmir is the place where couples and families go to have a relaxing vacation, but many families' lives were lost last month in the Pahalgam attack. There were many on their honeymoon. One of them was Shubham Dwivedi and his wife, Aishanya Dwivedi. The couple got married two months ago, and the trip was their last.
Aishanya appeared on Indian Idol 16, where her presence gave goosebumps from the situation she went through. Aishanya was married to a Kanpur-based businessman, Shubham Dwivedi. They tied the knot on February 12, 2025. On April 22, 2025, her life changed as her 31-year-old husband was shot by terrorists right in front of her in Pahalgam.
In an interview with News18, Ms Dwivedi revealed that the terrorists didn't kill in groups; they just came to the valley from different sides. She stated that her husband was the one who was shot first, and the person who fired the first gunshot came from near the entry gate. She was quoted as saying:
"They were not doing it in groups. They came through different sides. Because Shubham was the one who was shot first, so the person who fired the first gunshot, he came from near the entry gate. Yeah, I really remember that very well. He came from the entry gate."
Aishanya further revealed that she doesn't understand how terrorists got those weapons, as there is a trail and no one is allowed to carry those big weapons. A heartbroken Aishanya shared that it happened, and she cannot even live a day without thinking about the scary sight. She said:
"Also, I do not know how these people got those weapons up there because it's a trail and you cannot carry those big weapons. But it happened. Yeah. It did happen and we are the victims. We are going through this. I cannot sleep even a day without thinking about it."
Recalling her husband, Aishanya stated that he was a beautiful and happy soul. She has known him for the past six months and 22 days, and there wasn't a single day when she wasn't happy, as she was happy every second in the relationship. He made sure to love her, and he was the heart of the family.
When Sony TV dropped a promo for the episode, Aishanya became emotional. She recalled the frightening incident and revealed that she had married Shubham just two months ago. He was the first one to be killed by the terrorists. She expressed gratitude to the Indian army who took revenge for the 26 sisters who lost their husbands in the attack. She said:
"Shaadi ko mere 2 mahine hue the. Shubham sabse pehle shot hua tha. Indian Army, aap logon ne un 26 behnon ka badla liya hai. I am really, really proud."
