As Prime Video's 'Off Campus' Season 2 begins filming, take a look at actor, 'Allie' a.k.a. Mika Abdalla's age gap with her real-life boyfriend, Jake Short.
Prime Video is known for offering viewers some of the most buzzworthy series we have seen in recent years. Similarly, their latest addition, Off Campus, has been grabbing the attention of romance lovers, especially those who enjoy shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty and XO, Kitty. For those unaware, Off Campus is based on Elle Kennedy's bestselling novels. Notably, one of the romances that fans have been gushing about is that of Stephen Kalyn’s ‘Dean’ and Mika Abdalla's ‘Allie.’ Amid this, amd with Season 2 officially begining filming, many have also become curious about Mika's real-life relationship with Jake Short, and especially their age gap.
Mika Abdalla’s ‘Allie Hayes' is seen as the bubbly bestie of Off Campus Season 1 lead, ‘Hannah.’ As per Prime Video, she will be at the centre of Season 2 with the show adapting Elle Kennedy's third instalment in the book series, The Score. Coming to Mika's real-life age, she is currently 26 years old, as per an interview she did with The Hollywood Reporter. Reportedly, her birthday is on May 13, 2026, the same as her co-star, Antonio Cipriano. Meanwhile, Mika's real-life boyfriend, Jake Short is currently 28 years old as per IMDb. He was born on May 30, 1997. This means that the couple did not have much of an age gap and are only 2 years apart.
Although not much is known about Jake Short and Mika Abdalla's relationship, the duo first crossed paths in 2021. This is when they worked together on the Hulu show, Sex Appeal. In the show, Mika and Jake played on-screen BFFs on a journey to experiment with intimacy. After filming, the duo's real-life bond also grew deeper, and they eventually fell in love with each other. Interestingly, while working together, Mika had initially believed that Jake was into her after they ran lines in her hotel room while sharing a bottle of wine. She confessed:
"I was operating on the assumption that he was into me, because he was bringing the bottle of wine. Come to find out, that was not his intention at all. He just wanted to drink his wine!”
If reports are believed to be true, Mika Abdalla and Jake Short got engaged in 2025. Jake's manager, Brian Medavoy, had seemingly confirmed the news with an IG post. He wrote:
"An awesome day yesterday celebrating the next chapter for my longtime client, Jake Short and his fiancée, Mika Abdalla. From set to real life – watching your journey has been a joy. Here’s to forever.”
Off Campus Season 1 had pulled off an incredible feat by pulling in 36 million global viewers in the first 12 days of its release. This marks the third-largest series debut in the history of Prime Video. Naturally, after so much success, the makers were quick to renew the drama for Season 2. This is why fans who had eagerly been waiting to see more of Mika Abdalla and her on-screen chemistry with Stephen Kalyn will not have to wait for long as they have already begun filming. Initially, it was believed that Season 2 would focus on ‘John Logan' and ‘Grace Ivers's' romance as seen in Elle Kennedy's second book, The Mistake. However, Prime Video decided to skip straight ahead to the third book, The Score, to put the focus on ‘Dean’ and Allie's' romance. Series creator, Louisa Levy, said in a statement:
“We are so excited to continue Allie and Dean's story as our primary romance of season two after kickstarting their romance in season one. But if you fell in love with Hannah and Garrett, don't worry — they will still be an integral part of our robust ensemble. We are looking forward to telling the next chapter of everyone's story”
