However, it is worth mentioning that back in the day, Nicolas was speculated to be dating Sex and the City alum Sarah Jessica Parker.
Fans had speculated that Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker were once an item for over a decade. Later, Sarah confirmed the rumor by stating that they had indeed dated around the time of their 1992 rom-com Honeymoon in Vegas. That is when Nicolas also decided to share his side of their relationship. Nicolas said that while he cared for Sarah, her mother might not have been a big fan of him. He recalled:
"I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the Mom test. I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again."
After their breakup, Nicolas moved on, marrying Alice Kim in 2004. During their marriage, the couple welcomed a son named Kal-El Coppola in 2005. The duo decided to part ways almost a decade later, in 2016. The Oscar winner then tied the knot with his current wife, Riko Shibata, in 2021. They welcomed a daughter named August Coppola Cage in 2022.
As for Sarah Jessica Parker, she went on to marry Matthew Broderick in 1997, after she split from Nicolas Cage. This time around, she knew “pretty early” in their relationship that he was the one, so things did not end with her ghosting him. Recalling how she confessed to him, SJP said:
“I remember I had to leave to go to a location to shoot a movie, and we were on East 10th Street. I was getting in a car to go away for a while. I remember thinking, ‘I think I love him. Should I say it?’ Because neither one of us had said it yet."
Unlike his previous high-profile relationships, Nicolas Cage has kept his married life with Riko Shibata extremely private. The duo is hardly seen together in public, which made their recent Lucas Museum of Narrative Art appearance even more buzzworthy. According to available information, Riko grew up in Kyoto, Japan, and is 31 years younger than Nicolas. The actor and his ladylove kept their relationship out of the spotlight during their courtship, and they tied the knot in February 2021.
As per reports, Nicolas and Riko had a “very small and intimate” wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. Later, in an interview with Flaunt magazine, Nicolas said that they had connected through mutual friends when he was filming his movie Prisoners of the Ghostland (released in 2021) in Japan. Having felt an instant spark, Nicolas and Riko began dating almost immediately.
It is worth mentioning that at that time, in February 2020, Nicolas made headlines for visiting his New Orleans Tomb with a mystery woman, later identified as Riko. The duo then got engaged on FaceTime, and after a year of dating, they got hitched in a hush-hush ceremony.
