Amid Nicola Peltz and Selena Gomez's soured friendship, the former once talked about her bond with the singer and tagged her as her 'soul sister'.
Pop sensation Selena Gomez and billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz have been each other's BFFs. From public appearances and vacations together to social media banter, Selena and Nicola were inseparable. For the uninitiated, Selena and Nicola first bonded in October 2022 at the Academy Museum Gala and quickly became friends. However, there had been rumours of a feud between the two, as they had been missing in each other's lives.
Amid the rumours of a rift between Selena and Nicola, the latter once called the former her ‘soul sister’. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Nicola spoke about their friendship and said:
“I had met her once in passing a few years ago, and then we all went to this event in September, the Academy Gala. We just clicked and had the best time. And then we became super, super close. I feel like she's my soul sister. I love her so much. She's truly one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my whole life. The kindest person ever. Truly, her heart is gold. I feel like I've known her forever."
Nicola and Selena's bond was very strong, so much so that the two even got the matching "angel" tattoo. Salena's friendship with Nicola led to her close bond with Brooklyn Beckham, too. The trio went on vacations and even celebrated holidays together. In fact, in one of her posts in January 2023, Selena famously labelled themselves a “throuple.” Taking to Instagram, she wrote. “Fine, call us a throuple #foreverplusone."
Later, when Selena started dating Benny Blanco, the couple even went on double dates together. Well, while everyone thought things were fine between Selena and Nicola, fans noticed a shift in their dynamics in 2025 as they missed each other's important events.
Selena decided to skip Brooklyn and Nicola's summer vow renewal ceremony. Later, the couple were nowhere to be seen at Selena's wedding. An insider told People about the BFFs' changed dynamics and shared:
“There’s no bad blood. Relationships evolve, and it’s true they’re not as close as they once were, but there wasn’t any one thing that happened."
Amid the growing tension between Selena Gomez and Nicola Peltz, the latter deleted not just one or two but all of her pictures with her friend, Selena, on Instagram. Nicola's move assured people that the once best friends have fallen out. On the other hand, Selena recently unfollowed Brooklyn Beckham.
There were many rumours about their soured friendship, and it was also rumoured that Selena's "throuple" joke from 2023 may have gone too far. There were also reports that Nicola might have got uncomfortable with Selena's close bond with her and Brookly. However, no proper evidence supporting the theory has surfaced yet.
