Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini's scandal has become not just a personal but also a professional controversy. Amid that, the Patriots' Mother's Day post has left fans fuming.
Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel's alleged affair have set the headlines abuzz for over a month. The buzz began after Page Six released a series of pictures of the NFL reporter with the New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel, earlier in April 2026. The duo has since been under severe online scrutiny, with people questioning their affectionate sighting at the luxury resort. While both Dianna and Mike refuted the claims of them having an affair, fans and media have been digging into their past for answers. Amid that, the New England Patriots' post for mothers day has triggered an intense backlash given the ongoing scandal.
It was on May 10, 2026 (ET) that the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the New England Patriots posted for Mother's Day. The simple post featured the pill, aka the ball, with the text, "Happy Mother's Day". However, the simple post sparked backlash that the team had not expected. Amid the ongoing Mike Vrabel scandal, the New England Patriots put themselves in a complex position with NFL fans with their Mother's Day post. The celebration couldn't come at a worse time for the AFC East champions. The post could be read as:
"Happy Mother's Day, Pats Nation."
It didn't take long for fans to start disapproving of the New England Patriots' post. Many NFL fans took to the post's comment section and called out the franchise for posting something that could invite significant backlash. A comment read, "This might be the most tone deaf, out of touch, out-of-touch social media team in history." A user penned, "Read the room. Your head coach cheated on his wife and the mother of his children, and he cheated according to NFL standards. Just don't say anything. Stay on the DL this Mother's Day and let truly respectful men have the floor." A user wrote, "Is Coach calling Diana to wish her a happy Mother's Day for his illegitimate child?"
However, that was not it; the majority of the comments went against the New England Patriots and their head coach, Mike Vrabel, with a user stating, "Patriots tweeting this out while Mike Vrabel has been cheating on the mother of his multiple kids for the last half decade is diabolical." A comment read, "You all have the audacity to post this when your HC made another married woman a mom while he already had a wife who was also a mom." A user posted a long note that could be read as:
"Btw... since you're all so concerned with the head coach and him being man of the decade in your eyes.... Has anyone bothered to check in on his wife and kids? I mean... it is Mother's Day, and he's only been lying to them for 6 years. It's embarrassing watching you defend him."
A few weeks before the Arizona resort photos kicked off the biggest story of the 2026 NFL offseason, Dianna Russini made a grim prediction about the New England Patriots in 2026. Before the April 2026 pictures leaked, Dianna had made a comment that she didn't expect to turn out like this. She was quoted as saying:
"I think this is gonna be a hard offseason for New England. Everything's changed. This is not the cute team that 'maybe can get it right in a few years.' They just went to the Super Bowl.... I think you'd better buckle up. 1 think we may be talking about New England not winning as many games this year."
