While he was given the necessary medical treatment and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, he couldn't survive.
Mateusz died at the age of 33. It happened after he was competing in the middleweight division of the Classic category. As per reports, the bodybuilder felt extremely unwell and collapsed on stage. After he collapsed on stage, the competition was halted, and medical assistance was provided on stage. He was then rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but he couldn't survive.
NTD television channel reports that the emergency services forced the event to be temporarily halted. It was resumed later, after a meeting with the rest of the athletes. The Physical Culture Association confirmed the 33-year-old bodybuilder's passing, who was participating in the national finals of the PCA, which is one of the leading bodybuilding organisations.
It is worth mentioning that the incident happened on October 18, 2026, just a day before his 34th birthday. Mateusz made his bodybuilding debut two weeks earlier. He had secured second place in the PCA First Timers Show in Yorkshire on October 4, 2026. After his passing, his wife, Patrycja Chmura, took to her husband's Instagram handle and shared a long note.
Patrycja clarified that an online fundraiser claiming to collect money for his family has appeared online, but it has nothing to do with her. She added that she has no association with the campaign and has not given permission to anyone to accept donations on the bodybuilder's family's behalf. She wrote:
"I want to make it clear that I have nothing to do with this fundraiser. I did not create it, I did not give permission for it to be created, and I have not authorised anyone to collect money on behalf of me or my family. I beg you, please do not donate to this fundraiser."
The wife revealed that the fundraiser has some information that is not true and stated it to be a scam. She begged people not to donate. She further revealed that she is going through the most painful time, and she doesn't have the strength to say a lot. She wrote:
"I'm going through something incredibly painful, and right now I simply do not have the words or the strength to say much more."
For the unversed, Mateusz and Patrycja got married two months ago and were training together just less than 48 hours before Chmura collapsed. However, no details about the bodybuilder's cause of death have been released yet.
Netizens shared their condolences, and some expressed their disbelief. One user wrote, "Thoughts are with you at what must be an incredibly tough time; it was a pleasure to share the stage with him this year." Another penned, "Deepest condolences. My thoughts are with you and your family. So, so sorry for your loss. Sending you all the strength and love."
A third one commented, "I hope you know the whole community is behind you, and you can message any single one of us if you ever need it. Bless your soul." Another wrote, "Sending so much love to you and your family. I was there on Sunday supporting my husband, and I’ve been thinking about you ever since. I saw Mateusz compete in Hull a few weeks earlier, and he really stood out to me. He smiled throughout his routine, and for some reason I remember him despite seeing countless other competitors on stage that day. As a fellow bodybuilder’s wife, I want to send so much love. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. The community are here for you."
