NBA player, Jaden Ivey has once again found himself in the middle of an intense controversy amid his removal from the team, Chicago Bulls. For the unversed, Jaden, recently shared his views on the queer community, which sparked an online debate. Following this, his team removed him. Well, now, the player has come forward and spoken about his personal struggles and mental health.

Jaden Ivey shares having suicidal thoughts amid the controversy

Hours after, Chicago Bulls announced their decision to remove Jaden Ivey claiming that he is ‘detrimental’ for the team, the player opened up about thoughts on the ongoing controversy on the Pin Point podcast. Jaden mentioned that in the past, he has tried to commit suicide multiple times; however, it was his wife who supported him during the tough phase. He was quoted as saying:

"I've almost committed suicide multiple times, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I’m not ashamed because God was merciful to keep me here. I almost committed suicide. I had [oxycodone] pills in my hand. And my wife was telling me, ‘Don’t do this. Don’t go down this road. I didn't do it by God's grace."

Recently, a report by Complex.com claimed that the NBA star, Jaden Ivey, a while ago, came live on his Instagram, during which he revealed that after the controversy, his family members have started leaving his side. He also shared that the communication with his wife has completely broken down. In his words:

"Those who are around me, those who are my family members betraying me because of what I spoke. The truth. Betraying me. Saying that I'm losing my mind. Saying that I'm crazy. Saying that I don't know the truth. These are my own family members who love me. My blood. Those who raised me said that I don't know the truth. 'Man, he's psycho.' He's this, he's that. Those are my own household. All because of the gospel. All because I said the truth. My wife is in here, and she's not even texting me."

Jaden Ivey opens up about his comments on the queer community

Further, Jaden Ivey broke his silence on his comments on his social media post, in which he opposed NBA Pride Night events. His thoughts did not sit well with the audience, sparking a major controversy. A while ago, he shared that he is not against any person, but he finds it contrary to God's words. In his words:

"In terms of LGBTQ, I'm not against the man or the woman. I'm against what is contrary to the word of God. Man is not supposed to lie with a man and a woman is not supposed to lie with a woman. I have a mouth to speak. No one can stop me! As long as I'm doing the will of God, abiding in Jesus Christ, that's what matters"

According to a report by TMZ Sports, Jaden Ivey also slammed the NBA team, Chicago Bulls for describing his actions as ‘detrimental’ for the team. He shared that despite being a strong player and an asset for the team, they decided to remove him. Jaden also cited the example of Anthony Edwards, who used homophobic slur in 2022. However, he was only fined and not removed by his team. For the unversed, Anthony has issued a public apology for his actions.
