In an interview, Navneet Nishan opened up about some of her experiences while shooting the film, 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke', and it's simply unmissable.
As Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke completed 30 years in 2023, Navneet Nishan shared some anecdotes from shooting the film. It was a 1993 Indian romantic drama film, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, which stars Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles, along with Navneet Nishan, Sharokh Bharucha, Dalip Tahil, Kunal Kemmu, among others in supporting roles. Navneet revealed how Aamir Khan was extremely conscious about the continuity of his film. Not only that, she also shared a yucky experience of hers while shooting the film.
In an interview with a leading daily, Navneet Nishan opened up about some of her experiences while shooting the film, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke. For the unversed, Navneet played the role of 'Maya Bijlani' (daughter of Dalip Tahil's character) and wanted to marry 'Rahul Malhotra' (played by Aamir Khan) in the film. Thus, she had to work with the ace director, Mahesh Bhatt and the star actors, including Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla. It was indeed a stunning experience for Navneet, and explaining the same, she said:
“I was so nervous being on a set with Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and Mahesh Bhatt. I was an absolutely nobody. And here were these massive stars and these three little children, who were smart, cute, full of spunk and brilliant actors. I used to feel kahan aa gai hoon main. I couldn’t believe my luck that I was going to be a part of such a big film. It was a delightful experience. It was one of the most exhilarating, early experiences of my career.”

In the same conversation, Navneet talked about the wonderful memories of working on the film. However, she also recalled that Aamir Khan was quiet naughty but a perfectionist. Since he wrote the film's screenplay and was part of it hugely, he made her kiss him all day to get the perfect shot. And just to match the continuity of the previous scene, Navneet had to kiss her 7-8 times on his cheeks. She revealed:
“There was a cute scene which got edited, sadly . After our engagement, I go Aamir’s house to pick him up and give him peck on the cheek. There was a lipstick mark on his cheek when I kissed. And later, Aamir being Aamir said ‘This has to be in continuity’. So, all through the day, he made me kiss his cheek at least 7-8 times. I came home and I told my friends that I have kissed Aamir Khan all day long! Meri toh lottery nikal gayi."
Further, Navneet shared other anecdotes from her shoot. For the uninitiated, Naveen't look in the film featured a long wig along with blue lenses. Thus, talking about another scene where kids throw eggs at her, Navneet mentioned how she got drenched in eggs from top to bottom. And being a vegetarian, it was quite difficult for her. She added:
“Soon, we realised ande zor se lagte hain. So, Aamir made sure that they were cracked enough before they were thrown and they don’t hurt as much. Once the shot began, we were beaten by eggs and they didn’t stop coming. I’m a vegetarian and I couldn’t bear the smell of eggs. I was covered in eggs from head to toe in eggs. Thank god, I wore a wig which I could throw warna my hair would have smelled for days."

Born on October 25, 1965, Navneet Nishan is known for her stunning acting skills in films, including My Name Is Khan (2010), Raja Hindustani (1996) and Zaalim (1994). She made her Bollywood debut in the movie, Jaan Tere Naam, co-starring Ronit Roy. Afterwards, she was part of many Hindi and Punjabi movies. She also worked in many TV serials, including Tara, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Chanakya and others.
