The Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case has seen several twists and turns since the 84-year-old was reported missing on February 1, 2026, from her own home in Arizona. Several suspects have since been brought in for questioning, but there hasn't been any solid lead on Nancy's whereabouts. However, amid that, the buzz is that one of the suspects might be planning on suing the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos. The former suspect in reports is being named as a former conman from Arizona, Luke Daley, who was briefly detained for questioning by the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

According to reports, Luke Daley previously slammed Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos over the questioning. In an interview with True Crime Arizone, Luke claimed that he had "nothing to do" with the case. He accused the Pima County Sheriff's Department of conducting a "fishing expedition to get me to say something." Reports further claimed that even Luke's 77-year-old mother was also questioned as part of the Nancy Guthrie probe.

While both Luke Daley and his mother were released within a few hours, new reports suggest that Luke could be planning to sue the Pima County Sheriff's Department's Sheriff, Chris Nanos, for what he and his mother were allegedly subjected to. Jonathan Lee Riches, a social media investigative journalist, reported on Monday, March 9, 2026 (ET), that a lawsuit from Daley targeting PCSD could soon be filed. As of now, however, Daley has not officially said that he will file a lawsuit against Sheriff Chris Nanos.

Luke Daley had first opened up about the probe in an interview with Briana Whitney on True Crime Arizona. He said that "like everyone else," he also wants Nancy to come home and be safe. He maintained that the person in the video clip was not him when he was questioned about the potential resemblance to the suspect in the video. He was quoted as saying:

"I don’t see the resemblance to it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case. The whole time during the questioning, it seemed like more of a fishing expedition to get me to say something."

Luke Daley further raised objections over how he was detained. He accused the Pima County Sheriff's Department of following him as he was driving, stopping him and then taking him to the station in cuffs. While Luke was released, there haven't been any new arrests or known identification in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, as PCSD and the FBI continue looking for leads. At the time Luke was quoted as saying:

"I, like everyone else, just want Nancy to come home and be safe. I hope that she’s safe. I hope that they find her."
