As per the latest report on the missing of Nancy Guthrie, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed the abductor might have been recorded on Nancy's camera.
Famous journalist and Today Show's host, Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie is leading the headlines ever since the news of her missing. She was last spotted on January 31, 2026, at her home, and the investigation is still ongoing. While no trace of Nancy Guthrie was found, a ransom note was found, demanding a million dollars in Bitcoin.
Ever since Nancy was reported to be missing, there have been a lot of speculations regarding what exactly happened after she returned home. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a press conference that Nancy returned to her Tucson, Ariz., home after having dinner with her daughter Annie and her husband at their house. Talking about her last appearance, Nanos revealed:
“At 9:50 p.m. that garage door closes, because at that time we assume that Nancy's home and probably going to bed. We know she had gone to bed.”
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also informed that there was no activity at the house until 1:47 a.m., when Nancy's doorbell camera disconnected. The software from the doorbell camera detected someone but the video isn’t available. The camera broadcasted the live feed but couldn’t automatically save the video without a subscription plan.
Nanos revealed that investigators reached out to the doorbell camera’s manufacturer for access to any data it recorded the night Nancy was abducted. Although the company could tell authorities that the camera sent a detection alert at 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1. But there was no way to recover any video that night as Nancy, did not have a subscription. Speaking about the same to The Associated Press, Nanos revealed:
“It is concerning, it’s actually almost disappointing because you’ve got your hopes up. OK, they got an image. ‘Well, we do, but we don’t.’”
Nancy Guthrie’s family recently received two ransom notes. Following this, Nancy’s kids, Savannah, Annie and Camron released a video, wherein they asked the abductor who sent the ransom note to contact them with proof that Nancy is safe and alive. It was also reported that the ransom note was possibly from someone who had the intention to harass the family, and seemingly not the one who was actually behind the kidnapping or abduction.
Amid this, a person has been arrested in connection with it. As per a report, it is believed that the man, whose name is Derrik Callella, was arrested in Hawthorne, California. According to reports, Callella faced two federal charges, one being transforming communication, containing a demand for ransom for the release of a kidnapped person, and also making a call without revealing his identity, with the intent to harass and abuse a person.
