Nana Patekar was in Goa when he died due to a heart attack. He had called his friend at 2 a.m. on October 8, 2026, and expressed feeling discomfort. However, his friend saw the text late, and when he reached Nana Patekar's home, he was gasping for breath. He was rushed to the hospital, and despite the doctors' best efforts, he couldn't be saved.
Nana Patekar's mortal remains were kept in the morgue in Goa for people to pay their last respects. However, to everyone's surprise, those who attended the ceremony were seen clicking videos and photos of his parthiv sharir. Some were busy shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries.
People on social media, X, shared their thoughts. One user pointed out the shameless behavior of people and wrote, "It requires next-level shamelessness to take a photo of mortal remains in front of the person’s family." Another user commented, "Are people taking photos of a dead man lying in his final bed?"
A third one commented, "Are people taking photos of a dead man lying in his final bed?
Why are stupid people clicking pics? People don't have any sense left; they don't know how or where they should behave." A fourth one penned, "This is truly Kali Yuga... How vile and lowly must the people who are taking photos be. They are lucky to be able to have their final darshan. However, how appropriate is it to take photos at such a time?"
Nana Patekar passed away at his Goa residence on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75. As per reports, he was feeling unwell and had pain on the left side of his chest at around 2:30 a.m. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital at around 4:20 a.m., where doctors tried to save him, but he was declared dead at approximately 5:20 a.m.
According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Nana messaged his friend around 2:30 a.m. that he was feeling unwell. However, the friend saw the message later and reached Nana Patekar's home at around 4 a.m., where he found Nana sweating and gasping for breath. He was then taken to the hospital, and despite CPR attempts, doctors were unable to save him.
When Nana Patekar's son, Malhar Patekar, arrived at the hospital, he was seen breaking down. The heartbreaking visual surfaced on the internet, as Malhar met doctors and family members at the hospital to complete formalities related to Nana's death. After the paperwork, Nana's mortal remains were handed over to the family.
For those who don't know, in a September 2023 interview, Nana Patekar shared his thoughts on life and death. He then revealed that he had set aside the wood required for his own cremation. He was promoting his film, The Vaccine War, and spoke about his thoughts on death as the ultimate truth and an inevitability. He even joked about not using 'wet wood' during his cremation.
