Patriots' head coach Mike Vrabel and popular NFL reporter Dianna Russini have remained at the center of NFL gossip ever since Page Six leaked photos of the two together at an Arizona hotel. Because both are married to other people and have kids, the cosy images quickly sparked affair buzz online, even though both Vrabel and Russini strongly denied having any romantic relationship.
Now, the drama has taken another explosive turn after an NFL insider publicly claimed that Vrabel and Russini “were in a relationship,” not having an affair, while also dropping a shocking remark about Russini’s child.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, an ex-NFL wide receiver and an industry insider, recently revealed that Mike and Dianna were not secretly cheating but were actually in a full-blown relationship. Speaking on the Speakeasy YouTube show on May 6, 2026, Houshmandzadeh flatly dismissed the affair narrative and stated:
"This wasn’t an affair. That's his girlfriend, they were dating... That’s a decision he made, and she also made."
If we look back at the days that followed Page Six's leaked photos, the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini controversy only snowballed from there. Soon, more photos from their previous meetings surfaced online, fueling even more speculation about the nature of their bond. Things exploded when TMZ leaked photos from their private Tennessee boat trip from 2021, when Dianna was pregnant with her first child, Michael.
Adding fuel to the fire, Houshmandzadeh also hinted at the wild theory that the baby could be Mike's. He added that it "wouldn’t surprise me" if the baby "might" belong to Vrabel. This comes amid ongoing speculations that Dianna named her firstborn Michael because of Mike, although TMZ reported that her son was actually named after her brother, not the Patriots coach.
The timing of Houshmandzadeh's comment has raised eyebrows. Recently, another insider had also made similar claims amid the affair buzz. During a conversation with former coach Jason Brown in his Fearless with Jason Whitlock podcast, the host explained that he believed Dianna was carrying Mike’s child on the boat trip, because "no man" would hang out with a woman carrying someone else’s child. He said:
"That’s gotta be Vrabel’s baby. Because no man is going to hang out with a seven/eight-month pregnant woman unless she’s carrying his baby. Again, when Vrabel is walking towards her or behind her or whatever, that picture right there, she turns around, and she’s pregnant. Again, just think for yourself as a man, if that’s not your baby, it’s like I’m doing a little secret rendezvous with a woman who’s carrying another man’s baby."
Vrabel and Russini have both denied any romantic involvement after the Arizona hotel incident. Still, the internet has kept digging up more alleged sightings and photos of them together, including claims they were seen kissing at a New York City bar in 2020 and spending time together at a casino shortly after Vrabel’s exit from the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
Amid the growing scrutiny, Vrabel previously admitted that the controversy forced him into difficult conversations with both his family and the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, Russini publicly stepped down from her position as an NFL insider at The Athletic last month, while reinstating her stance that she would not let anybody define her narrative.
