Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, and he made it public in 1998. As his disease was affecting his work, he reduced acting and eventually founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000, wherein he advocates for finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease and to help fund the research.

The publication recently shared a statement with Hindustan Times and revealed that the package was posted in error, and apologies have been sent to the actor's family. The death buzz was spread through an article, which has since been taken down by the publication. As per a member of the publication:
"The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family."
Michael J. Fox has reduced his acting work, and he also mostly stays away from public glare. The actor's last public appearance was in the 2026 Actor Awards, wherein he gave an emotional speech about the struggles he had to face in the early days of his career. He also talked about meeting his wife, Tracy Pollan, on the sets of Family Ties and how she became a catalyst for him.
Michael said that when he was struggling in his career's early days, one of his teachers gave him blunt advice, saying that he won't stay cute forever. The actor further mentioned that he met Tracy on the sets of Family Ties, and she became everything that he was missing in life, off-screen. Tracy and Michael welcomed four kids, whom the actor considers 'gifts'. In the same speech, he also revealed that he often tells his kids that had it not been for his acting career, no one would even exist.
