American journalist, Megyn Kelly slammed Sydney Sweeney for 'sexualising infancy' in her latest offering, 'Euphoria Season 3'.
Sydney Sweeney seems to be in a soup after her character, 'Cassie' in Euphoria Season 3, offended fans, and the general audience stood shocked. Now, American journalist, Megyn Kelly has blasted Sydney Sweeney for the Euphoria teaser where she seemed to have crossed the line. As seen in the video, Sydney was seen suckingh on a pacifier, dressed like a baby and had spread her legs.
American journalist, Megyn Kelly, who is a conservative commentator, felt that Sydney Sweeney crossed the line. Megyn on the episode of SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show gave her reaction to a new preview for Season 3 of Euphoria. Here, Sydney's character seems to be based on an OnlyFans-style storyline. Megyn described the graphic, Sweeney's character and said that she was sexualising childhood. In her words:
"I can’t believe she agreed to this frankly and was in this. I think this guy’s sick. Sam Levinson. He constantly wants the women to take their clothes off for, like, scenes that don’t require them to be nude at all."
Megyn had further cited reports where she claimed that many stars who worked with Sam Levinson, including Sydney Sweeney on Euphoria, had pushed back on the nudity scenes. They were not fine with the creator's nudity scene suggestions and spoke about how uncomfortable they felt with the amount of nudity in the show. Megyn shared that controversy has always been a part of a bigger problem and noted:
“He constantly wants the women to take their clothes off for, like, scenes that don’t require them to be nude at all. I think this is another example of Hollywood not understanding at all where the line is. And how most normal people are going to recoil … in response to what’s essentially the sexualization of a child, of a baby.”
A report by Page Six revealed that Sydney's shocking OnlyFans story has caused a stir on social media. Sydney's character, 'Cassie' is seen making her OnlyFans career and fans of the actress took on the social media to call her costumes as disgusting. For the unversed, she had also dressed up as a dog, in addition to dressing up as a baby. Sam, defending Sydney in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, said:
"[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humour, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it. What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion — the gag is to jump out, to break the wall.”
The director of photography, Marcell Rev, spoke about Sydney Sweeney's controversial scene and shared that an obvious choice would surely have been something modern and very plain and fancy, but they ended up choosing this mid-century home, which is a little tacky, but also stuck in the ‘70s. The director of photography, Marcell Rev, revealed that it is a strange choice, but they had got a lot of possibilities.
Sydney Sweeney reportedly had earlier addressed concerns related to nudity in the Euphoria series and revealed that the nude scenes were not at all necessary. Now, Megyn Kelly's comment has come at a time when the Euphoria series is being backlashed. Earlier, Megyn used to be in favour of the actress.
