Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleHollywood star Rebel Wilson has successfully defended claims that she defamed a young actress who played the lead role in her directorial debut film. For the unversed, the case stems from The Deb actress, Charlotte MacInnes, accusing Wilson of spreading lies about her. The case was presented to an Australian judge on July 22, 2026, in Australia, and the ruling favored Wilson.
According to reports, the lengthy legal battle started after Charlotte MacInnes made claims that Rebel Wilson had been spreading lies to her followers about her. So, as the Hollywood star takes the big win, let's take a look at what happened and inside the Hollywood star's personal life.
Rebel Wilson had landed herself in legal trouble after Charlotte MacInnes made some serious accusations against her. The case stemmed from MacInnes' claims that the Pitch Perfect star had harmed her reputation by spreading lies about her to millions of followers on Instagram. The young actress made headlines after she claimed that the posts by Wilson made her the "subject of abuse, hatred and ridicule online" and affected her career prospects. However, it seemed like Justice Elizabeth Raper disagreed with her.
According to reports, the case included claims of smear campaigns and embezzlement. In an Instagram post following the Wednesday, July 22, 2026 ruling, Rebel Wilson thanked Judge Elizabeth Raper and the Australian legal system for the "substantial win". In the post, she shared that now she can finally move on, and a part of her post was quoted as:
"Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I’m grateful this chapter has reached its conclusion, and I’m looking forward to getting back to what I love most, my family and my work. Thank you to the Judge and the Australian legal system, whom I have the utmost respect for."
For those who are unaware, in the July 22, 2026 ruling, Justice Elizabeth Raper said, "To say that the circumstances surrounding how they came to be in the bath are unusual would be an understatement." The judge found that only one of the claims was "made out" and that MacInnes had changed her story about being uncomfortable, and that was not defamatory. The case was dismissed, with MacInnes ordered to pay costs.
For the unversed, in the posts mentioned in the said defamation case, Rebel Wilson had suggested that Charlotte MacInnes had withdrawn a complaint of sexual harassment against the film's producers to further her career as an actor and singer. While the young actress denied ever making any such complaints in the first place, she also slammed several charges against Wilson.
One of the key claims in the defamation suit was related to an incident that took place in September 2023. According to reports, Charlotte MacInnes and producer Amanda Ghost shared a bath at a Sydney penthouse rented by the production company. The actress claimed that she joined Ghost only because they were both cold and the bath was big enough for both women.
According to Rebel Wilson, MacInnes had earlier told her that Ghost had asked her to bathe and shower with her and made her feel extremely "uncomfortable", which Wilson took as MacInnes coming to her to file a report of sexual harrasment on set, and as the director of the film, she was obligated to act on it. However, Charlotte MacInnes later changed her story, backing Amanda Ghost's version of events and said in her affidavit: "There was nothing sexual in any way."
While Rebel Wilson celebrated the major win, let's meet the woman who supported her through the ups and downs of the case. Yes, we are talking about Wilson's other half and wife, Ramona Agruma. She is the founder and designer of Lemon Ve Limon, a sustainable clothing company based in Los Angeles. She previously also owned a luxury jewelry company called DeLys.
Ramona founded the company in 2013 and served as the brand's creative director. However, it seems like the brand was later closed. Her jewels were seen on Rebel Wilson's costar in Pitch Perfect 2, Hailee Steinfeld, at the movie's world premiere in 2015. But that is not all; in addition to her personal businesses, she serves as a brand ambassador for luxury jewelry company Bee Goddess, which handcrafts its jewels in Istanbul.
Talking about how Rebel Wilson met Ramona Agruma, in May 2022, the former told PEOPLE that they met "through a friend," though she didn't reveal who the love interest was at the time. The actress also recalled how they first spoke on the phone for a certain time period before meeting in person. "We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other," she said. "It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic."
After dating for almost a year, they decided to take their relationship a step further. The couple got engaged at Disneyland in 2023 and later tied the knot in 2024. They also share two kids, Royce, whom they welcomed in 2022, and Rose Estelle, born in May 2026.
