Kumar Sanu and his ex-wife, Rita Bhattacharya, have been in the limelight because of washing their dirty linen in public.
Rita Bhattacharya is best known as the estranged and ex-wife of veteran Bollywood playback singer, Kumar Sanu. He is one of the most iconic and famous names in the Bollywood industry. Kumar ruled the landscape of the Hindi music industry back in the 1990s and early 2000s. He has given countless hit songs that have been remade today and has given voice to songs in varied languages. At one end, Kumar Sanu got success, awards in his musical career but his relationship with Rita has become toxic and beyond repair. She is a mother to three kids- Zicco, Jessy, and Jaan Kumar Sanu.

If you take a look at Rita Bhattacharya's Instagram handle, which is not verified, it just has two posts. Rita had earlier claimed that her husband, Kumar Sanu had blocked her. She follows her son, Jaan Kumar Sanu, on Instagram and only has 448 followers. Her two posts are dedicated to her son, Jaan, and showcase his music videos. BollywoodShaadis could not verify if Rita is using this Instagram handle.
Rita Bhattacharya and Kumar Sanu's lives have been marked with turbulence. Earlier, in an interview with the Indulge Express, Rita took a walk down the memory lane and shared some of the painful memories with Kumar Saanu. She revealed that her journey with Kumar Sanu was filled with struggle. Rita claimed that her only dream in life was to make him a singer, and he became one due to her. In her words:
"He is a great singer, but as a human being, it would be best to talk about him as little as possible. He was never ambitious. It was my dream to make him a singer; I pushed him. I helped Kumar Sanu become Kumar Sanu."
Rita further shared that when she came to Mumbai, her life was filled with a lot of struggle. Rita shared that they did not have any money or transportation when they came to Mumbai. It was completely zero. Rita shared that Kumar Sanu used to wear a lungi back then and lied about sending his family to Mumbai. Rita shared:
"He should skip the question if he doesn’t want to answer. Why lie? He keeps lying the whole day. Hence, all three of my kids said that it is high time you talk. I used to push him out to go and struggle in Bombay. We used to sleep on the floor without a fan. After Aashiqui’s success, he started earning a lot of money, and that’s when he started changing. He became ill-mannered; he was never like that.”
Rita and Kumar Sanu had met in Calcutta, and the City of Joy started their love story. Back in the 1980s, the pair got married without the consent of their parents. However, their families later had accepted their marriage. The ex-couple became parents to three kids before they separated in 1994. Sanu was rising in his career, living happily with Rita, but was also earning name and fame.
Kumar Sanu then reportedly had a fling with Kunika Lal. After having the shortest fling of his life, Kumar Sanu got attracted to Meenakshi Seshadri. Both had met on the sets of Jurm which has the famous song, Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye picturised on her crooned by Kumar Sanu. He had denied his affair with her for three years until, Kumar Sanu's secretary told Rita, according to a report by Newsgram. The secretary told Rita that “Kumar has many girlfriends". Kumar divorced Rita, and she took the custody of their three kids. Kumar Sanu had to pay a monthly alimony amount for the maintenance of his wife and kids.
Rita Bhattacharya has been vocal of the emotional abuse, legal struggles that she faced due to Kumar Sanu. Apart from alleging being taken to court when she was pregnant, Rita felt the personal betrayal by her ex-husband made her feel like her whole world had been crushed. Rita claimed that Kumar Sanu was very insecure and did not even allow her to step out of the home.
