Brigitte Macron was active as a drama teacher in the past. She was working at a Catholic school called Le Providence, and it is the same place where she met Emmanuel. For the unversed, the duo had an age gap of 24 years. Emmanuel reportedly developed feelings for Brigitte, following which his parents sent him to a boarding school.
Notably, Brigitte was a mother of three children when she met Emmanuel for the first time. While appearing for an interview with RTL Radio Station in 2019, Brigitte said that she and Emmanuel are not an ideal couple. She further stated that things become complicated for any couple when there is a big age gap. Brigitte and Emmanuel tied the knot in 2019. Brigitte's children, Sebastian, Laurence, and Tiphaine, have established themselves in different fields. While Laurence is a cardiologist, Tiphaine is a lawyer, and Sebastien is a statistical engineer.
Starting from 2017, Brigitte Macron has served as the First Lady of France. She even supported Emmanuel in his presidential campaign. She had run for the office once in 1989, competing for a seat in the city council of Truchtersheim. Brigitte has also been awarded multiple Grand Cross distinctions from the Order of the Dannebrog, Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Order of the Ivory Coast, Order of Grimaldi, Order of Merit, and Order of the Polar Star.
In May 2025, there were reports that Brigitte Macron allegedly pushed away Emmanuel Macron. The incident reportedly happened on a flight in Vietnam. However, Emmanuel Macron dismissed the claims when he later spoke to the reporters. Emmanuel said that he was joking and teasing Brigitte and criticised the theories that emerged from the clip. An insider also stated that the duo was not having any dispute. In the latest video featuring Donald Trump, he seemingly referred to the old video, as he said:
“I called up France, Macron, whose wife treats him extremely badly, (he is) still recovering from the right to the jaw.”
Emmanuel Macron has already shared his opinion about Donald Trump’s video a day after the video went viral on April 2, 2026 (ET). While speaking to the reporters, Emmanuel referred to Trump’s video by saying that he would not like to respond to Trump’s comments.
