'Stranger Things' star, Maya Hawke tied the knot to Christian Lee Hutson in a surprise wedding in NYC on the day of love, Valentine's Day!
27-year-old actress and musician, Maya Hawke is now a married woman. Yes! Maya said 'I Do' to the love of her life, Christian Lee Hutson, in a surprise wedding. The wedding took place on the day of love, Valentine's Day, i.e. on February 14, 2026. The wedding ceremony was held in New York City at St. George’s Episcopal Church, following which a reception party took place at The Players Members Club.
Maya and Christian's love story marks another friends-turned-life-partners, and it was the actress, who herself said during an interview on the Zach Sang Show that she cannot recommend enough about dating a friend, as she also thinks that 'it's the best'.
Well, the couple who started as friends collaborated on several projects, and now they are married. For the wedding, Maya Hawke donned a sheer white wedding gown, which she teamed with a veil and an oversized feathery winter coat. Her look was completed with a pair of white block heels, soothing makeup and the perfect hairdo.
The groom, Christian Lee, kept it casual and classy with a tuxedo. The wedding ceremony was attended by the bride's parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. Ethan and Uma, who were married from 1998 to 2005, also share a son, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, who also attended Maya's wedding. Maya's co-stars from Stranger Things, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery, also marked their presence at the wedding of the actress with 35-year-old Christian Lee.
Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson's dating buzz began in 2023, and during that time, sources close to them revealed that the couple had been friends with each other before they started dating. The couple were each other's friends for four years, as reported, and during that time, they collaborated with each other in professional fronts as well. Maya Hawke appeared in several of Hutson's music videos, wherein she contributed to the vocals. Huston appeared in Maya's second album, Moss and her most-recent project, Chaos Angel.
Apart from appearing on music videos, the couple also accompanied each other in their stage performances. It was in 2025, when Maya and Christian Lee Hutson got engaged. The speculations began with Maya flashing a huge diamond ring during April 2025, when she was papped in Manhattan. Later, it was Hutson who, while appearing on SoCal Sound Session, confirmed that he is engaged to Maya Hawke. As per Maya, dating a friend is the best thing that a person can do, and she would recommend it very much. Sharing why she feels like that, Maya said on Zach Sang Show:
"It's awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It's the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people. They really know you as a person who has feelings ... not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”
