Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleMatt and Abby Howard are celebrating an emotional milestone in their lives after suffering a heartbreaking loss. The influencer couple welcomed their third son nearly a year after losing their baby girl during pregnancy. On Monday, August 17, 2026, the influencers posted the news of their newborn on Instagram with a photo of an emotional new mom, Abby, holding the baby close to her chest.
The arrival marks a particularly emotional moment for the couple, who are already parents to sons Griffin and August. Their parenthood journey came to a standstill after they lost their third baby (their first daughter) even before she was born.
Taking to his Instagram on Monday, Matt Howard shared a collaborative post with the new mom, writing that they were soaking up every bit of this beautiful chapter. While the couple has yet to reveal the name of the baby boy, their happiness knew no bounds with the little one's arrival. Sharing Abby's photo from the hospital bed, Matt wrote:
"He’s here!!!! We have been soaking up every bit of this beautiful new chapter as a family of 5. Can’t wait to slowly catch you all up on the past week of our life."
Before welcoming their newest son, Matt and Abby were preparing for another addition to their family in 2025. But during a routine appointment, they shockingly realized that they may not hear the little one's laughter. Doctors could not find their baby's heartbeat, and an ultrasound confirmed the devastating news.
Abby was about 17 weeks pregnant when the couple learned they had lost their baby girl, whom they later named Emerson Nicole. They also learned that she had a genetic condition that caused her death. The couple wrote at that time:
"The news felt unimaginable. The grief is absolutely devastating. But we feel so much gratitude for the time that we did get to have with her."
For Abby, the loss meant going through an experience that looked painfully similar to childbirth while knowing she wouldn't be bringing her baby home. She later described the hospital experience as “eerily similar” to a live birth. Speaking on The Squeeze podcast, Abby recalled that devastating chapter and shared:
"I always say that delivering our daughter was just … it was so eerily similar to, like, a live birth. You’re in the same unit as everyone else that’s having babies that are alive. They have, like, an incubator across from you that you just know that you’re not gonna use. There’s no fetal monitoring of any kind. It’s just an experience that you wouldn’t wish on anyone. But it is an experience that has grown me like so, so much."
The loss had a profound impact on the couple's relationship as parents to two toddlers while also dealing with the heartbreak of losing their only daughter. Both deeply disturbed by the incident, Abby and Matt turned to therapy and worked on their communication as they processed the loss together.
Matt shared during their Unplanned podcast that the experience taught him how hard life can be. She added that although it was very painful, the loss brought them closer. "We’re kind of building a brand new marriage," Abby said, describing how during that time, they had to get to know each other on a deeper level and be each other's support.
In an August 2025 interview with PEOPLE, the couple reflected on their pregnancy journey, saying, "Going for our third baby is almost more exciting than ever because now we truly know just how good it is."
Six months after losing Emerson, Matt and Abby announced they were expecting again. In March 2026, the couple announced their pregnancy with sonogram photos and a sweet, but emotional caption: "Baby #4 (rainbow emoji), grateful beyond measure."
The couple later revealed they were expecting another boy. For those who have been following the influencer duo for a long time, this announcement itself added another layer to their emotional married life as new parents.
Abby had previously shared that her due date was August 11, 2026, which is also her father's birthday. While it remains unclear whether the baby arrived on that exact date, she teased the timing in a birthday post for her father. She wrote, "P.S. I meant to post this yesterday to wish him a happy birthday, but I was a little busy working on his greatest birthday present yet."
Congratulations, Matt and Abby!
