A closer look at Catalina Manceras emotional pregnancy update months after Marshawn Kneelands tragic death and police investigation.
Marshawn Kneeland left behind a grieving family and a pregnant girlfriend after his death in November 2025. Now, six months later, his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera has shared an emotional update as she prepares to welcome their baby. Mancera posted photos from her baby shower on Instagram and thanked friends and family for helping her through what she called the hardest time of her life. The post came months after Kneeland died by suicide following a police chase in Frisco, Texas. According to Daily Mail and police records, Mancera had contacted authorities that night after receiving worrying messages from the NFL player.
Catalina Mancera posted several photos from her baby shower in Michigan as she continued to mourn the loss of Marshawn Kneeland. In her message, she thanked the people who stayed beside her during her pregnancy and said their support helped her through a painful season in her life. Mancera wrote on Instagram:
“Words can’t explain how thankful I am for the people God has placed in my life. In such a hard season, the love and support surrounding me has made everything feel a little brighter.”
She also thanked both families for supporting her and her unborn baby after Kneeland’s death. The Dallas Cowboys earlier confirmed that the organization created a memorial fund for Mancera and the couple’s child. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer had publicly revealed her pregnancy days after the tragedy. Mancera and Kneeland had been together since his college football days at Western Michigan University.
According to Kneeland’s cousin Nicole Kneeland-Woods, the couple first met in Kalamazoo while the future NFL player was building his football career before entering the league with the Dallas Cowboys. Even months later, Mancera has continued sharing emotional memories about the man she called her best friend. Earlier this week, she admitted she still struggles to accept the reality of losing him. Mancera wrote in another Instagram post:
“This isn’t my life anymore, I’m now living my worst nightmare,”
Authorities said the events leading to Marshawn Kneeland’s death began late at night when Texas State Troopers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle near Frisco, Texas. Police later discovered the vehicle belonged to the Cowboys' defensive end after checking its identification records. According to reports, Kneeland was allegedly driving at speeds above 145 mph before crashing into a pickup truck and running away on foot. Officers then launched a major search operation that included K-9 units, drones, and officers searching drainage tunnels near an office park area.
During the search, Catalina Mancera spoke with police and warned them that Kneeland was armed and dealing with mental health struggles. Body camera footage later showed officers discussing her concern that the NFL player might harm himself. Police also said an empty holster was found inside the vehicle. The search continued for hours before officers eventually found Kneeland dead inside a portable toilet around 1:32 a.m.
Investigators later confirmed Mancera had called police earlier after receiving a message from him saying he would “end it all.” The heartbreaking case shocked the NFL community and Dallas Cowboys fans across the country. Since then, many supporters have continued sending messages to Mancera as she prepares for the birth of the couple’s child. According to Daily Mail, she said the kindness, prayers, and support from friends and family are helping her move forward one day at a time.
