Marilyn Monroe used to be a popular face in Hollywood many years ago. She was active in the film industry since the ‘40s and built a big fan base with her on-screen presence. Marilyn’s work in comedy projects was specifically appreciated. Back in 1995, she was featured in The Seven Year Itch, which is considered to be Marilyn’s biggest success in terms of box office numbers.

Marilyn Monroe was also supposed to be a part of a film titled Something’s Got to Give. However, frequent delays in the movie’s shooting eventually led to its cancellation before its release in 1962. Notably, it is the same year that Marilyn unexpectedly passed away. The circumstances leading to her demise remain a topic of debate for various reasons. Keep reading to know more!

Marilyn Monroe’s death led to an investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office

As mentioned, Marilyn Monroe passed away in 1962. A toxicology report claimed that acute barbiturate poisoning was the reason behind her demise. The coroner’s investigation also claimed that the death was not accidental since the dose was higher than the usual limit. A separate investigation was launched in 1982 by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office when some reports claimed that there was some kind of foul play. However, the authorities could not find any important details that could have brought a new turn in the case.

Although, the investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office ended without new information being revealed, the theories about the circumstances leading to Marilyn Monroe’s death continued to surface over the years. One of them was the alleged association with the CIA. This was due to the rumours of a romantic relationship between Marilyn Monroe and Robert Kennedy. The latter was serving as the U.S. Attorney General.

Moreover, Marilyn was reportedly believed to be involved with President John F. Kennedy at the same time. The theory of the CIA’s involvement claimed that the agency reportedly planned Marilyn Monroe’s death. The reason behind the same was believed to be the state secrets allegedly shared with Marilyn by John and Robert.

On the other hand, private investigator, Milo Speriglio, made different claims in his book, Marilyn Monroe: Murder Cover-Up, which was published in 1982. Another book, Double Cross, written by Chuck Giancana and Sam Giancana Jr., shared something else about Marilyn’s death. For the unversed, Chuck was the brother of mafia boss, Sam Giancana, and Sam Jr. was his godson. Milo alleged in his book that, apart from Sam, Jimmy Hoffa had murdered Monroe. But Double Cross blamed CIA, claiming that the agency reportedly ordered a hit on Marilyn Monroe, which was accepted by Sam Giancana. However, the claims were never proved.

Kennedy brothers were also believed to be linked to Marilyn Monroe’s death

As mentioned, there were rumours that Marilyn Monroe was linked to the Kennedy brothers. Notably, Marilyn was married to the late actor, Arthur Miller, before her death. They tied the knot in 1956 and separated five years later in 1961. The marriage brought some troubles for Marilyn at the same time, since she was believed to be a communist. The reports emerged from Arthur’s alleged association with communism. According to Parade magazine, Robert Kennedy had reportedly planned Marilyn Monroe’s murder since she threatened to reveal the state secrets that she knew.

Robert Kennedy was allegedly believed to be involved in hiding the evidence related to Marilyn Monroe’s overdose. Author Anthony Summers also investigated the matter from his side and shared the details in his book, Goddess. The claims of Summers were even featured in the Netflix documentary, The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes. Anthony was heard saying that Marilyn was undergoing treatment for depression under a psychiatrist, who reportedly created a different version of the story related to her death, which was eventually revealed to the public and shared with the press.
