Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleMarcellus Wiley, the 51-year-old former NFL defensive end, is facing domestic battery charges after his wife, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Annemarie Wiley, accused him of threatening to kill her and physically abusing her. The author-broadcaster was taken into custody over the July 4 weekend, only to be released hours later. Amid Wiley's denial of the accusations, details of Annemarie's report have surfaced.
According to court documents from Annemarie's restraining order plea, the RHOBH alum said the altercation broke out while she and Marcellus were staying at the World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida. The couple, along with their three children, had reportedly been staying at the hotel for a youth basketball tournament.
The pair allegedly had a conflict the previous day, on July 3, 2026, during which the NFL alum allegedly stood over her while she sat on a bed and intentionally poked her in the cheek with his finger. Annemarie claimed that the whole incident unravelled with their 7-year-old daughter still in the room.
Annemarie further noted that Marcellus has physically abused her on multiple occasions in their 14-year marriage, but they went unreported. The arrest affidavit also noted that Annemarie was the one who reported the alleged domestic battery on July 4, 2026. She reportedly told officers she feared for her safety after Wiley allegedly threatened to kill her and asked police to remove him from their shared hotel room.
While the deputies didn't find any visible signs of injuries and the reality TV star also didn't seek medical attention, her daughter reportedly confirmed that her parents were arguing. She, however, denied witnessing her father physically touching or hurting her mom.
While this is not Wiley's first run-in with the law, this is the first time that the allegations came from his wife of 14 years, with whom he shares three children. The former ESPN broadcaster reportedly denied any physical altercation on the reported day, adding that he had never been physically violent toward his wife. He, in turn, suggested that Annemarie framed it all to make divorce easier.
The 51-year-old also reportedly showed officers what were described as cordial text messages they had exchanged during the trip. Despite the conflicting accounts, deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Wiley on a domestic battery.
Marcellus was taken to the Orange County Jail and later released on a USD 1,000 bond. Following his release, court documents reportedly ordered Wiley to have no contact with Annemarie, while also barring him from possessing firearms, weapons, or ammunition while the case proceeds.
Hours after details of the arrest emerged, Wiley addressed the allegations in a statement shared on social media. Taking to X on July 6, 2026 (ET), the former NFL star completely denied the domestic battery allegations, saying that his priority now lies in protecting his children amid the legal battle. He wrote:
"I’m deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and concern for me and my itty bitties. Your support is fully appreciated. I completely and unequivocally deny these allegations, and I’m certain the truth will prevail... this is now a legal matter—and because my greatest responsibility is protecting my babies, who have already been impacted—I have to handle this differently. When I can speak freely, I absolutely will."
This marks the fifth time that Marcellus Wiley has found himself in legal dispute. Just months before his domestic battery charges, the NFL star was accused of separate instances of sexual assault by four different women, one of whom was an ex-ESPN employee. While Wiley denied his involvement in the lawsuits, the new allegations are raising further questions about his innocence.
Annemarie has since filed for a divorce from Marcellus, citing irreconcilable differences. She requested sole legal and physical custody of their three children, spousal support, and a restraining order.
