Currently, it looks like the entire world is mourning the death of the Brazilian Triathlete, Mara Flavia Araujo, who recently passed away during the 2.5-mile swim. The 38-year-old athlete was missing after the swimming leg, which led to a search for her. Later, divers found her dead body. For the unversed, the cause of the death has not been revealed; however, reportedly, she has symptoms of something similar to flu. Mara Flavia Araujo was a journalist before being a professional swimmer

Before establishing her name as a professional swimmer, Mara Flavia had a strong career in journalism. Reportedly, she has worked for more than a decade. Over the years, she worked mainly in radio and television companies. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was majorly involved in reporting, communication and content creation. Sharing her work profile as a journalist in a company called Record TV for 13 years, Mara wrote on her LinkedIn:

"Responsible for obtaining the material resources needed for program production, as well as arranging filming locations, studio availability, and shooting sites. Plans and organizes production elements together with the executive producer, and substitutes for them when necessary."

Apart from this, Mara Flavia Araujo also interned at EPTV and later worked as a communication coordinator at PRB – Brazilian Republican Party. Reportedly, she also worked as a Marketing Communication Specialist as well. According to her LinkedIn profile, Mara began working in the corporate world in 2010. In the same profile, she had also mentioned that she had 10 years of experience in public and corporate communication. Out of which, she had spent more than five years working in crisis management for multiple companies.

Mara Flavia Araujo also worked as a part-time DJ

Apart from having experience as a journalist, Mara Flavia Araujo also worked as a DJ, according to a report by Hindustan Times. Further, Brazilian media portals reported that the late swimmer was from the Sao Carlos area in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Allegedly, she had a great sense of music and apart from working full-time in the corporate world, she used to work as a part-time DJ. Reportedly, she had played music in different cities.

For those who do not know, Mara Flavia Araujo was a much-loved swimmer, who was best-known for her participation in triathlon. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Mara has been a triathlete for over a decade and has competed in IRONMAN and 70.3-distance events regularly. Over the years, she has participated in multiple swimming races. Coming to her Instagram handle, the swimmer had over 60,000 followers. She often used to share glimpses from her life as a professional swimmer and her passion for music.

Mara tragically passed away at the age of 38 while she was taking part in the IRONMAN Texas race. The unexpected incident happened during the swimming race, which took place in Lake Woodlands. Reportedly, it is considered to be one of the most difficult places to swim. However, soon, Mara Flavia Araujo went missing in the lake and later her dead body was found.

It is worth mentioning that Mara Flavia had a few existing health issues before her sudden death. A few years ago, she had revealed that she had been diagnosed with a health issue. Moments before the swimming race, the journalist also had flu-like symptoms. A friend close to her stated that Mara was very weak before the race; however, she was not ready to quit. After Mara's death, the race organisers shared a statement, which could be read as:

"We are saddened to confirm the death of a race participant during the swim portion of today’s IRONMAN Texas triathlon. We send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the athlete and will offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time."
