This is because he was always with President Droupadi Murmu at all her public services, official ceremonies and overseas visits. Now, amid his premature retirement from the Indian Army, an old document of Major Rishabh has surfaced related to his name change.
According to a report in the official Gazette of India, the notification regarding Major Rishabh Singh Sambyal's name change was published in 2023. The viral document had sparked a lot of buzz among fans who knew him by his latest name and wanted to know more about his family background and identity.
The document stated that Rishabh Singh, who is the son of Opinder Singh, had changed his name and would be known as Rishabh Singh Sambyal. The notification had also identified him as an employed Aide-de-Camp to the President at that time. The details related to the name-change document stated:
"I, hitherto known as RISHABH SINGH S/o OPINDER SINGH, employed as ADC to the President in the President's Secretariat, residing at Ward No. 10, Budhwani, Opp DRS Kids School, Samba, J&K-184121, have changed my name and shall hereafter be known as RISHABH SINGH SAMBYAL. It is certified that I have complied with other legal requirements in this connection."
The document that went viral is very important because it reveals an important detail about Rishabh Singh Sambyal's former name, Rishabh Singh. It also included his signature under his existing name, Rishabh Singh, as part of the formal name-change notification.
The government notification follows the standard format used for name changes. In this case, it shows that he was known as Rishabh Singh and will then be known as Rishabh Singh Sambyal. The record also mentions that Rishabh's dad's name is Opinder Singh and that his address is listed as Samba, Jammu and Kashmir.
Rishabh's appointment was described as the ADC to the President in the President's Secretariat. The document published in The Gazette of India is more than an official government document and not just a social media claim.
Speaking more about the former ADC, Major Rishabh Singh Sambyal, he first rose to fame back in 2021. Back then, he served as a Captain in the Jat Regiment. The Major took most of the limelight after Rashtrapati Bhavan’s official digital photo library showcased Major Rishabh as the retired former ADC.
It was on August 21, 2026, when Rishabh left the post and then met the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Pictures of their meeting went viral on social media. He had even taken to his social media handle to express his gratitude towards President Droupadi Murmu. His post read:
"Honoured to call on the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The blessings and teachings of the Hon'ble President have helped me grow as an individual. Also, it was wonderful to meet the family once again."
Netizens were very upset that Major Rishabh left the most decorated job in the country. An upset fan wrote, "The Army uniform suited you the most. I truly respect your decision and wish you nothing but the best for this new chapter of your life.”
Others were happy to see Major Rishabh with the President, ma'am. They were happy that he had served her, as one adorable user wrote, "Takes us back to those beautiful days when you had the honour of serving alongside her. Thank you, Sir, for your remarkable service. Always cheering for you at every step, and the last slide has to be a favourite — reunited with all the ADCs once again!"
