On January 4, 2026, Jay made a collaborative post on Instagram with his ex-wife, Mahhi and shared that they will continue to co-parent their children. According to a report by Filmygyan, Mahhi Vij will not take any alimony from her ex-husband, Jay Bhanushali, for child maintenance post-divorce. As per legal sources, the Seher – Hone Ko Hai actress refused to take monthly maintenance from Jay. This major decision highlighted Mahhi’s commitment to managing her responsibilities, including child upbringing, independently without seeking any financial support from her estranged husband.
The divorce buzz surrounding Jay and Mahhi has been doing the rounds on the internet for some time now. In November 2025, Mahhi took to her YouTube channel and shared a video clarifying a rumour surrounding her taking Rs. 5 crore alimony from her ex-husband, Jay. In the video, Mahhi mentioned that she didn’t want to talk about the buzz surrounding her separation from Jay. However, before things got dirty, she wanted to clarify a few things. Mahhi highlighted that although they are public figures, they will disclose the things that they want to share. She was quoted as saying:
"I didn't want to talk about this, but I felt that before it gets dirty, it's best to speak. Even though we are public figures, we will just tell you as much as we want to. One report claims that I have demanded Rs. 5 crores as alimony. Who told you this? I don't understand what alimony is. According to me, when a man works hard, no woman has the right to that money when they separate. Until I tell you guys, please don't believe any news."
In November 2025, a close friend of the Seher – Hone Ko Hai actress opened up about the star allegedly taking alimony from Jay Bhanushali in an interview with Times of India TV. She highlighted that the actress will not ask for alimony and genuinely wants her ex-husband, Jay, to grow in life. She mentioned that Mahhi will never put Jay through any pain, and their bond is beautiful. She was quoted as saying:
"Mahhi will not ask for alimony; she genuinely wants Jay to grow in life. She would never put him through any pain. Both of them share a good bond and have immense respect for each other. Jay has immense respect for Mahhi, and the feeling is mutual. Their bond is beautiful, and we hope more people understand that relationships don’t have to end on a bitter note just because a marriage does. For Mahhi, what matters is the person, not his money."

In the note, Jay mentioned that they will be the best parents and best friends and do anything that is best for their children.
