Mahhi Vij talks about being struck with the horrors of casting couch early in her career, when she was given a lewd suggestion to fix her rate card.
Mahhi Vij has been one of the most prominent faces in the Indian television, who has won innumerable hearts with her acting prowess, impressive personality and gorgeous looks. She reigned her career by being a part of some A-listed shows, such as Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Teri Meri Love Stories, Balika Vadhu, Laal Ishq and many others. In her personal life, she is married to actor, Jay Bhanushali and the couple is parents to their daughter, Tara. The duo is also foster parents to their caretaker's children, Khushi and Rajveer.
In an in interaction with Telly Masala, Mahhi Vij opened up about an incident early on in her career, when she got misled to a wrong audition opportunity. She explained the situation and revealed how a person called her up for an opportunity by another person, who claimed to be a shooting coordinator. While Mahhi agreed to visit that unknown man somewhere in Juhu, she was shocked to learn how that man wanted to rope her in for casting couch and even asked her to fix a rate card for herself. She narrated:
“Woh humein album mein photos dikha raha hai aur fir rate card dikha raha hai. Fir usne bola idhar aapki photo lag jaaegi aur aapka rate card ban jaaega. Maine kaha, negative nahi sochte hain toh maine kaha pucha per day shoot karenge, uska hai? Usne kaha nahi nahi, rate card, aap cruise pe jaaoge, toh maine kaha performance ke liye, usne kaha nahi nahi, aap samjho naa.”

Continuing her revelation, Mahhi Vij then remembered how that man’s words shook her and her sister into reality, and they understood what he actually meant by the opportunity. The actress remembered how her sister instantly grabbed the hair of that man, while sitting on the passenger seat of the car. The two of them escaped out of the car with all their might and never recontacted that person again.
Previously, in one of her interviews with a leading daily, Mahhi Vij opened up about her long wait to become a mother. The actress remarked how she went through IVF treatments rigorously since three years, all of which failed miserably. Thereafter, at the age of 36, she took a break and again tried a fresh round of IVF, and it was then that she conceived her twins. Unfortunately, Mahhi lost one of the twins, and she gave birth to the surviving twin, her daughter, Tara.

Previously, during a conversation as the host on the dance reality show, India’s Best Dancer 3, Jay Bhanushali opened up about how none of the invited guests turned up for his wedding with Mahhi Vij. Explaining the probable reason behind it, the actor revealed that since he married Mahhi within three months of dating, people mistook him for a cassanova and didn’t trust that he would actually get married. In his words:
“Unko doubt lag raha tha ki main itna bada casanova hun, ye itni jaldi shaadi kaise kar sakta hai.”
