Madhuri Dixit didn't change a single step in 'Dola Re', even if she struggled and felt dizzy due to her pregnancy, said Saroj Khan's close associate.
Madhuri Dixit, popularly known as Bollywood’s 'Dhak Dhak' girl, hardly needs any introduction. She has won hearts with her stellar acting and spontaneous dance moves. From 'Dola Re' of Devdas to 'Tabaah Ho Gaye' of Kalank, Madhuri has left her fans in awe. Over the years, she has given numerous hits, such as Devdas, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Raja, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Khalnayak and more. In a recent interview, Saroj Khan’s crew member, Rubina Khan, shared an unheard facet about Madhuri.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas is considered a classic film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. While every song of the film won the hearts, Dola Re stole the spotlight. The song grabbed a lot of attention due to Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya’s duet performance. It is worth mentioning that the late choreographer, Saroj Khan, was the driving force behind making Dola Re a hit. In a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, Saroj Khan’s crew member, Rubina Khan, who worked closely with the legendary choreographer, revealed an unheard detail about the filming of Dola Re.
Recalling the shooting days, Rubina shared that it took 17 days to shoot Dola Re, and rehearsals happened for at least a month. Rubina mentioned that there was a step in which Madhuri had to turn and sit down. That shot kept happening from morning, 9 am, to night, 10 pm. However, Madhuri couldn’t turn properly and felt dizzy as she was 4 months pregnant at the time. She also had a fever. But she struggled a lot and completed the shoot. Rubina added that although Madhuri was struggling a lot, she never asked for a step to be changed. Rubina was quoted as saying:
"It took 17 days to shoot that song. Rehearsals happened for at least a month. We rehearsed separately, and the lead actors rehearsed separately. There’s a step in which Madhuri ma’am turns and sits down. That shot kept happening from 9 am to 10 pm because she was four months pregnant. So, she couldn’t turn properly and was feeling dizzy. She also had a fever at that time. She struggled a lot. She’d never ask for a step to be changed."
Madhuri Dixit was seen in the series, Mrs. Deshpande. She played a grey-shaded character in the series. She will be next seen in the Netflix series, Maa Behen. Madhuri plays the lead role in the upcoming series alongside Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durgaa. Maa Behen is set to premiere on June 4, 2026. Coming to her personal life, Madhuri has been married to a US-based surgeon, Shriram Nene, since 1999.
The couple welcomed their first child, son, Arin Nene, in 2003 and in 2005, they completed their family by welcoming their second son, Ryan Nene. While Madhuri has a huge fanbase who know about stardom, her children had no idea about it as they grew up outside India. During a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Madhuri opened up about her sons’ first reactions. Madhuri shared that her sons were always into cartoons or superhero films and didn’t understand Hindi. She was quoted as saying:
"They knew nothing until we got back to India. One day, we went to watch a movie together, and when we came out of the theatre, there were photographers on a clicking spree. They were so confused, asking me, ‘Mom, what is this? They were always into cartoons or superhero films and didn’t understand Hindi. Only now they have started speaking Hindi and Marathi."
