Well, ever since Netflix released The Crash, the reactions of the masses towards the parents of the accused, Mackenzie Shirilla, have left the internet divided. There have been viewers who have been emotional after the demise of Mackenzie's boyfriend, Dominic Russo and their mutual friend, Davion Flanangan. Netizens have not stopped abusing Mackenzie Shirilla's parents and are not liking that Mackenzie's parents, Steve and Natalie Shirilla, are focusing entirely on defending their daughter.

Mackenzie Shirilla's parents slammed for defending their daughter, post the release of The Crash

A few days back, a netizen on X had shared Mackenzie Shirilla’s dad wearing a shirt that said 'BOOM' while being interviewed about the crash in which his daughter killed 2 people. The netizen called it the craziest part of this whole show. The user who had shared the tweet was Jon Beyer, and a netizen had written, "This guy is a complete idiot. Neither of her parents had any business having children.  Zero accountability, zero empathy for the families of the victims. He and his wife wanted to be 'besties, ' not parents. They are two pieces of big shit who raised a cunt. It starts in the home. #TheCrash. Another one wrote:

"I swear this is some lunatic shit what happened is 1000% her parents fault.  I also found this very bizarre. He raised her, he ignored her early signs of abnormal behavior. He ignored it made excuses for her and refused to believe others when they were telling them something is very wrong and volatile with her."

A user also shared how Mackenzie Shirilla's parents constantly made excuses for her bad behaviour, never punished her, always believed her, even when she got suspended from school for bullying, & her mom said one of the victims was a "new friend" when the judge called her out on not caring about the victims.

Mackenzie Shirilla's parents' interviews got them more criticism

Mackenzie Shirilla's parents, Steve and Natalie Shirilla, revealed that their daughter is innocent, according to a Poprant report. They have been standing by her despite her being convicted for the 2022 crash that killed her boyfriend and their mutual friend. A report by TMZ shared that in The Crash, Mackenzie's father addressed her marijuana usage and shared of not have issues. Steve further expressed remorse that the two young men died in the crash and that his daughter survived the same. Fans on social media were not happy with the way Mackenzie's parents defended her in the interview. They were upset that the names of Dominic and Davion was not taken in the full interview.  In his words:

"I don't have a problem with her smoking dope. If you're going to smoke a drug, that's the one I believe you should take.”

Mackenzie Shirilla's dad, Steve, continues to defend her, claiming she is innocent

Steve shared that he had no idea that his daughter was reportedly smoking before the deadly crash and shared that if he had known, he would have had a lot of issues with the same. Well, beyond the controversy surrounding the documentary, Steve has argued that prosecutors have never proved premeditation or intent. He alleged that there is zero evidence of intent and prior calculation in this case.

As seen in the interview, various arguments presented at trial were challenged. Steve argued that there was no exact evidence that showcased what happened inside the car moments before the crash that claimed two lives. Well, netizens have been upset that the interview focus has been totally on the parents of Mackenzie and that the families of the victims were not at all considered.
