After much waiting, Love Island USA Season 8 is finally here. The show premiered on June 2, 2026, and gave fans a look at the first ten Islanders. One such Islander who left an incredible impression on fans during this season's premiere is Mackenzie “Kenzie” Annis. Many viewers have now begun drawing comparisons between Mackenzie and Sydney Sweeney's Euphoria character, ‘Cassie Howard.'
As soon as viewers were introduced to Mackenzie Annis during the recent Love Island USA Season 8 premiere, people began noticing similarities between her and Sydney Sweeney. To be precise, fans believe that she looks and gives off the same vibes as the actress' character, ‘Cassie Howard’ in the hit series, Euphoria. Viewers felt the same, especially after noticing the 24-year-old's behaviour in the first episode of the Peacock reality show. For those unaware, Sydney played the role of ‘Cassie’ across all three seasons of Euphoria, and in the last season, her character became an OnlyFans model, which required the actress to film several risqué scenes.
One social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a meme of Sydney Sweeney in the HBO series, “Kenzie looks like if Cassie from Euphoria went on Love Island!” Another wrote, “She looks like Sydney Sweeney!” The same user also predicted that because of her similarities with Sydney, Kenzie was going to be “a hot mess in the show.” One fan jokingly wrote, “Cassie Howard walked so Kenzie could run.”
One fan tweeted, “Kenzie is giving s3 Cassie realness.” Alongside a photo of both Kenzie and 'Cassie', another fan wrote, “Ever since people said Kenzie looks like Cassie, I can't unsee it anymore.” One tweet read, “These pictures of Kenzie keep showing up on my timeline, and I keep thinking they are stills of Cassie from Euphoria.”
According to reports, Kenzie Annis is a native of Georgia. Before she joined the Love Island USA Season 8 cast, she used to work as a nanny. At the same time, she also went to school to earn her nursing degree from Kennesaw State University. Reportedly, she graduated from the university just a few days before joining the cast on the Fiji island. After graduating, Kenzie shared the good news on Instagram, writing:
“All glory to God, I GRADUATED NURSING SCHOOL! Thank you, KSU, for some of the hardest, but best years of my life! I am happy to announce, I am now adding BSN to my name.”
It is worth noting that Mackenzie was a competitive dancer. She revealed the same during her Love Island USA Season 8 interview. According to her, dancing was something that helped her relieve stress. A look at her Instagram handle also reveals that Kenzie used to dance with CK DanceWorks Inc. During the 2017 National Finals, she finished in 17th place in the Top Intermediate Solo 15-19 category. During the interview, Mackenzie said:
“I used to be a competitive dancer, so every morning I wake up [and] do my split. It gets rid of so much stress if you just express that groin and lie, you will feel amazing.”
Ahead of her appearance on Love Island USA, Kenzie faced severe backlash and photos of her wearing a “Make America Great” merch began circulating online. However, her father denied that his daughter and their family were supporters of President Trump, as people were claiming. Mackenzie's brother, Alden, also defended his sister against the accusations in a TikTok video, saying:
“My family and I are very against the Trump administration. We have never voted for Donald Trump. It's really just been weighing down on me, the things I have seen people online saying about my sister, just from short…two pictures, three pictures or something. Today, she is not…She's an amazing woman. She's a huge role model to me. So, it's just really hard to hear these false accusations.”
