In a recent conversation, filmmaker, Dominic Arun dropped a major hint about the sequel to 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra'.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, the superhero film directed by Dominic Arun, became a massive success at the box office. The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role. While Lokah garnered significant attention from the audience, it was the ending that left them in a frenzy. The closing statement of 'Chandra' (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan), "If an anomaly were to happen, I will return", hinted at the expansion of the Lokah universe. Now, the filmmaker dropped a major hint.
During a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India, the Lokah filmmaker, Dominic Arun, talked about the film's success and said that it was never part of the plan. The filmmaker shared that he just wanted to make a movie that he would enjoy watching. Dominic highlighted that he thought of filtering the superhero-type cinema with his own sensibilities. He then went on to say that the first real validation came when he narrated the script to his close friends. He was quoted as saying:
"For me, this kind of success was never part of the plan. I just wanted to make a film that I would enjoy watching — something that carried the highs and spectacle usually associated with superhero cinema, but filtered through my own sensibilities. It began as a very selfish process. That’s when I sensed it was clicking. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it and understanding exactly what I was trying to say."
In the same conversation, Dominic Arun recalled the moment when he approached the film’s producer, Dulquer Salmaan, with the script. The actor and director, Dulquer, was immediately on board. Dominic highlighted that after Lokah’s grand success, there has been pressure. He explained that, as there has been no formula for making a blockbuster, he has started with the basics. Revealing the unheard story about Lokah 2, Dominic said:
"He got extremely excited after hearing it, and that’s how the film came together. Once it was released, it sort of took on a life of its own. There’s no formula for making a blockbuster. So I’m going back to basics — writing, rewriting, and figuring things out slowly. The pressure is definitely there. I’ve managed to write only a couple of scenes so far."
The mid-credits and post-credits of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra introduced two characters, 'Odiyan' and 'Chathan'. Dulquer Salmaan stepped into the shoes of 'Odiyan', a mysterious, ninja-like character, while Tovino Thomas was seen in the role of 'Chathan', a strange, goblin-like figure. In the post-credit scene of Lokah, a statement of 'Chathan', "It could be me... or one of my 389 siblings. We all look alike," hinted at his existence in multiple versions.
Earlier, in October 2025, the makers of Lokah released a short clip featuring 'Odiyan' and 'Chathan'. In the video, the duo was having a conversation. 'Chathan' a.k.a 'Michael' was seen holding a book titled They Live Among Us, and told 'Charlie' a.k.a 'Odiyan' that while the first chapter was about 'Neeli' (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan), the second part will revolve around the 'Chathans'.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra was made on a budget of Rs. 30 crore and earned Rs. 304.25 crore worldwide. It was produced by actor and producer, Dulquer Salmaan under the banner of Wayfarer Films. Along with Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film also stars Naslen, Sandy, Chandu Salim Kumar and Arun Kurian. While Kalyani grabbed a lot of attention with her strong screen presence, it was the antagonist, Sandy Master, who stole the spotlight with his portrayal of a vicious character like Inspector 'Nachiyappa Gowda'.
