'Love Insurance Kompany' has created a buzz on social media. Amid this, find out whether the romantic comedy film is worth watching.
Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), the romantic comedy film starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty, is making headlines for its feel-good plotline. For the unversed, the romantic comedy film was released on April 10, 2026. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the story of Love Insurance Kompany is set in 2040, where the world is totally dependent on an app called LIK and dictates to people when to fall in love and when to break up. Amid the buzz, find out whether the film is worth watching.
The story of Love Insurance Kompany revolves around 'Dheema' (played by Krithi Shetty) and 'Vasu' (played by Pradeep Ranganathan). Set in 2040, the romantic comedy features an app called LIK, where the world trusts and is dependent on it. 'Dheema' is one such person who blindly follows the instructions given by the app, while 'Vasu' is the voice behind the app.
It was love at first sight for 'Vasu' when he met 'Dheema' through the LIK app. Eventually, 'Dheema' also fell in love with 'Vasu'. Everything was going well until the LIK app’s Love Score feature intervened. 'Dheema', who blindly trusted the app, walks away from 'Vasu' after the love score verdict. Whether 'Vasu' will be able to win back his love and prove that real love cannot be measured through an app is the turning point of the story.
The major highlight of the film, Love Insurance Kompany, is SJ Suryah and Pradeep Ranganathan’s strong screen presence. SJ Suryah played the role of a villainous character, 'Suriyan'. Pradeep Ranganthan also gave a standout performance in the film, Love Insurance Kompany. At the pre-release event of the then-upcoming film, Love Insurance Kompany, Pradeep shared his working experience with SJ Suryah. He also recalled a moment when he tried to work with SJ Suryah as an assistant director. However, he was told to leave. The moment stayed with him for years and motivated him to work harder. Pradeep was quoted as saying:
"I went to his office and gave my resume. They told me to leave, but I didn't go. I sat on the staircase outside. Working with SJ Suryah sir now feels like a full-circle moment."
The tech-driven, futuristic setting fails to impress the audience as it lacks the fantasy expected from a story set in 2040. In fact, the depth of emotional connection between the lead actors was also missing. Critics found the second half dragging. A movie critic wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"#LIK A futuristic rom-com with an interesting concept and setup, but the execution is underwhelming. The film’s main USP is its futuristic world-building. It feels outlandish at times but generates some fun in the first half. The concept is interesting and has potential, but the execution doesn’t come together. The paper-thin plot gets exposed in the second half, and the film goes nowhere and feels dragged out. A few PR and SJ Suryah mark fun moments do land, but far too little for this to work. The production values are top notch. Fun works in bits and pieces, but as a whole it’s below par. Rating: 2.25/5 #LoveInsuranceKompany."
