LaVar had a brief two-year professional sports career from 1994 to 1995 and is known as the most outspoken of his basketball-playing family members. Talking about his family, in June 2026 he announced that he and his estranged wife, Tina Ball, had decided to end their three-decade marriage, and that she had already filed for separation. He also admitted that he had already found someone new, sparking buzz about who the person is.
LaVar Ball shared that it was his estranged wife, Tina Ball (maiden name Tina Slatinsky), who filed for a divorce, ending their 30 years of marriage. According to him, the reason for her decision was that she "wanted to go her own way." LaVar Ball revealed the separation during a livestream with internet creator, N3on, when the host asked him why Tina didn't accompany him to the show. He emphasised that his estranged wife initiated the separation, and he respected her wish, and they headed towards a mutual divorce.
LaVar reminisced about their time together, saying, "We had our run." He didn't get into the specific details of the split. Hence, it is not known exactly what led Tina to walk away from her long-term marriage with LaVar after 30 years and three sons together. Regarding Tina's split decision, he mentioned:
"My wife...Tina decided to go her own way. That's why you don't see her right here. She wanted to go do something else, that's fine with me. We had our run. We had our run."
In the same interview, LaVar Ball said he was fine with the split, as they had good memories from their time together and were ready to move on. He also confirmed that he "already found someone new." LaVar's comment sparked curiosity in the identity of the mystery woman as he did not reveal it during his interview. He just mentioned that the new woman in his life was someone who worked with him and refrained from sharing any other details about her, probably to avoid scrutiny of his new love interest after the end of a marriage of 30 long years. His exact words were:
"Any time you can find somebody you can stay in love with for a really long time… if you can witness that love, that's good. I had that with her. And I found somebody else, but it is what it is."
Throughout his remarks about Tina Ball, LaVar reflected positively on his marriage to her. However, the statements also had an underlying grievance regarding her ending their relationship. He shared that when she suffered from a stroke and was concerned about ageing, he still found her as beautiful as ever. According to him, the reason was that he was in love with her. Now that she has decided to part ways with him, he no longer finds her beautiful. It shows he still loved and cared for her, and was bummed that the marriage didn't work out. He stated:
"She had the stroke, and [is] getting older, she would never be like, 'Oh, man.' She was always beautiful in my eyes, until you want to go do something else. Now you not as beautiful to me again. If you decide to go this way, I'm gonna go that way. That's fine. It is what it is, man."
