Lamar Odom's Netflix documentary, 'Untold', highlights the darkest past of the famous NBA player and how his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, did her best to keep him sane despite the drug overdose.
The famous NBA player, Lamar Odom, whose journey was affected by his near-fatal drug overdose experience. The fame, paps and the game made Lamar get high on life and addiction. So much so that he almost ruined his life in 2015 at a Nevada brothel, at a time when he was going through a divorce with Khloe Kardashian.
The incident left Lamar Odom in a coma. He suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks. But God saved him miraculously. That's the time when his ex-wife ran to take care of him. She even cleaned him and helped him rent an apartment near her home. But what followed was Lamar refusing to leave his addiction, which ultimately ended his marriage with Khloe Kardashian.
Lamar Odom is back in the headlines, but not for his controversial lifestyle or his once-upon-a-time NBA journey, but for his documentary that premieres on March 31, 2026, on Netflix. The documentary highlights Lamar's near-fatal overdose incident and also has an interview with his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian and how she navigated his monstrous drug use, infidelity and the reason behind their divorce.
For the unversed, Khloe and Lamar got married within a month of dating, and it was after the wedding that she found out about the NBA player's drug addiction. In the documentary, Khloe talked about the first time she found out about his addiction as he disappeared after two years of their marriage. She panicked and reached out to everyone to find out about him. When he came home, Lamar told her that it was due to his son's passing away at a young age. Khloe was quoted as saying:
"At the beginning, it was a recreational thing. As silly as this sounds, it seemed responsibly done. It was two years in[to our marriage] when he disappeared. I really thought maybe something happened to him. I remember calling anyone and everyone while trying to find him. He did come home, and I don’t want to say he blamed a lot [on this], but his reasoning for why this happened was because of [his infant son] Jayden’s passing. That was the first time I was like, 'OK, this is something I’ve never experienced. This is a dark situation and I don’t know what to do.'"
So, Khloe did her best to keep Lamar's growing addiction hidden, which in a way increased and affected him. Instead of being in rehab, he continued his behaviour to a point that she decided to end things with him. An interventionist told her that she had to stage an act. She had to tell Lamar that he needs to take a 3-month rehab, or otherwise she would divorce him.
Lamar instantly told her that he would divorce her, and he won't come back. After which, he went to a legal brothel in Nevada, where he suffered an overdose. He slipped into a coma and had strokes and a series of heart attacks. After his miraculous recovery, Khloe reconciled with him and never left the hospital for four months.
In January 2016, Kardashian rented Odom a home near hers in Calabasas. She even hired a caretaker and a chef. But one day, it all blew up. She stopped to visit him when she smelled crack. When she entered Odom's bedroom, she found him continuing his addiction. She confessed in Untold that she punched him in the face as she had put her life on hold to take care of him.
"I just punched him in the face. I just put my life on hold to f---ing take care of you. He was better than I knew. He was playing me so I can continue this lifestyle for him."
Khloe divorced Lamar in January 2016. The Untold shows the dark side of Lamar Odom's life and how the brightest lives can be destroyed by addictions.
