Now, there is good news, as Kunal's dog, Sheru, has found a new home.
The Chandgude family's pet dog, Sheru has now found a new caretaker. A report by the Free Press Journal stated that Mane, who looks after many Indie dogs, has now adopted Sheru. Social media users are very happy for Sheru and want him to be happy with his new family. A user wrote:
"God keep him safe forever. He was rescued by Sambhaji Nagar Animal Welfare and adopted by animal activist Mr Shailesh Mane sir. Adopt karne se usko ghar to milgya lkn purane ghar wale nhi milege kabi. Great news, and so, so glad this lil baby has got his forever home where he will get all the love n care that he deserves."
Sheru did not know that his family members would never return after August 21, 2026. The dog stayed inside the house for three days and was unaware of the tragedy. A report by India Today mentioned that Sheru's health condition deteriorated as he remained inside the house for three days.
People staying around Kunal's house tried to give him food and water. However, the dog's condition worsened while he waited for Kunal and his parents to return. Whenever Sheru heard the doorbell or felt someone approaching, he would rush, hoping that his owner had returned.
When Sheru's grandfather came to the house, the dog became emotional. It was af if Sheru found some hope seeing Kunal's ajoba and immediately clung to the old man. The old man pacified the dog and fed him with his own hands. The video that circulated on social media related to Sheru left everyone emotional.
The internet is very happy that Sheru got adopted and is praying that he can deal with the pain. Dogs cannot speak, but they can feel the separation from their humans as much as humans do.
A heartbreaking video of the dog has gone viral, in which he can be seen barking from the home. The dog looked completely distressed as he hoped his owners would return soon. With the help of Kunal's grandfather and members of the Pet Lovers Association, the dog was rescued from the house.
As Sheru was placed inside the rescue van, his grandfather could not hold back his tears. He saw his entire family vanish before his eyes. Earlier, Association representative Barel Sanchis stated that Sheru remained confined inside the home for three days. The dog is now in safe hands, and the association had earlier discussed his situation with the Municipal Corporation’s chairperson and additional commissioner.
Earlier, Sheru was kept at a Municipal Corporation shelter home, where he reportedly received care. The Pet Lovers Association had then appealed to the public to help him find a permanent home.
For the unversed, according to the initial investigation, Kunal's tragedy began when his dad refused to buy him a new iPhone. This was due to the family's difficult financial condition. The NEET aspirant then, in a fit of rage, went to a hilltop and stood at the edge of the cliff.
His parents and the locals around persuaded him not to jump. Kunal did not heed them and jumped off the edge of the cliff. His father, who had gone to protect him, also lost his balance.
