Kumar Sanu's ex-wife, Rita Bhattacharya, slammed the defamation suit against her. The singer has asked for Rs. 50 crores for defaming him.
Kumar Sanu, who is a veteran Bollywood playback singer, has filed a defamation suit against his ex-wife, Rita Bhattacharya. He wants an apology and also monetary compensation of Rs. 50 crore for the alleged damage done to his reputation. Now, Rita has publicly reacted to the notice sent by her ex-husband, Kumar Sanu. This has come after she had given interviews to the paps where she alleged being mistreated by Kumar Sanu during her pregnancy.
The petition on behalf of Kumar Sanu was filed by his lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, seeking Rs. 30 lakh in compensation for damages and the removal of Bhattacharya's interviews from various entertainment platforms. She shared that the notice she got showcased a higher amount than what was actually reported. In an interview with the ETimes, she shared:
"The paper he has sent me, he is asking for 50 crores. I don’t know how Sanu is dreaming that I have so much money. It is really sad. I’m shocked. He is filing a case against the mother of his three grown-up sons. He is attacking me without attacking any other person. He is filing a case against me, not about the other people who are talking and inciting things."
Rita had alleged that Kumar Sanu had mistreated her when she was pregnant and claimed that he had deprived her of food, had confined her to the kitchen, and had also denied her access to medical care. Rita had claimed to be ill-treated in her marriage. Rita had slammed Bigg Boss 19 contestant, Kunickaa Sadanand, who claimed that Rita lived with Kumar Sanu for 27 years in a live-in relationship, despite knowing that he was married. Rita, in her interview,w shared:
"I never got a chance to talk to him. Neither me nor my children ever got a chance to talk to him because he has always blocked us. I tried to call Sanu, but he never took our calls. We are blocked on his number."
Rita also alleged that Kunickaa was having an affair and addressed being targeted for having an affair with Sanu Ji. Rita claimed that Kunickaa and Kumar Sanu had an affair when she was pregnant with his son. She questioned why she was being targeted and revealed that the legal fight opened up a painful history related to her past. Rita said:
"I contacted his secretary and requested him to please stop this. It is a very big insult. My son was getting married, and the in-laws were asking questions. I requested many times. I have all the messages and recordings on my phone. I am 63 years old, and again I have to fight in court. The first time he took me to court, I was pregnant with Jaan. Now again, at this age, I have to go through this. I will meet Sanu in the court after 31 years."
Rita also added that her children should not be blamed in any way for kind of defending their family. Rita shared that it is very insulting. Her children are not kids. They are grown-up men. Her elder son will be 37, her second son will be 34, while Jaan is 31. Rita shared that it is not a crime for her sons to answer people. They did nothing.
