After a year of speculation about his relationship with South Indian actress, Sunainaa Yella, Khalid finally made it IG official. For the unversed, Khalid was earlier married to Salama Mohamed with whom he shares two sons.
Salama and Khalid got married in 2007, and it was after 17 years of their marital bliss that they parted ways. While the duo's divorce was a mutual decision, Khalid had to face public wrath as his dating speculation with Sunainaa started back then, which people thought had caused a crack in his marital life. Well, while Khalid made his relationship IG official, Salama also moved on with her life, and reportedly, a few months ago, she got engaged to her partner. According to several reports, it was back in July 2025 when Salama Mohamed took to her social media handle and shared a photo of her hand resting on a mystery man's hand, with her ring finger adorned with a huge diamond ring. Talking about her divorce, Salama once shared that after her split from Khalid, she felt free like she had been chained for all her life. Khalid even once talked about the same while conversing on Tracy Harmoush: What They Don’t Tell Us Podcast. Khalid stated that he couldn't understand why people cannot just take it that a couple could come to a certain point in their lives, when they decided to part ways, as things stopped working.
Khalid also mentioned that he could take the bashing on his part, but those lies and speculations affected those who are very loved by him, which actually hurt him to an extreme level. Khalid could be quoted as saying:
"Why is it that hard to believe that a couple comes to a point where they feel that they’re not right for each other anymore and just say to move on and go their separate ways? And do so with respect with appreciation for what they had. And with an understanding that they’re going to be happier in another path. It’s one thing to get something said about you and you’ve done something wrong. Then you can sit there and be like ‘You know what I deserve this.’ You accept it. But when it’s pure lies, pure speculation and you are strong enough to deal with it. But you see someone who really loves you and they can’t hold back the emotions. That’s when it breaks your heart. People don’t see that. They are so desensitized to the impact these words can have on people."
