Kelly Curtis, who was widely known as the eldest daughter of legendary Hollywood actors, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh has tragically passed away. Unfortunately, the actress passed away on May 30, 2026. Her younger sister, Jamie Lee Curtis announced the heartbreaking news on her social media along with a heartfelt tribute.
Kelly Curtis was 69 years old when she tragically passed away. It is worth noting that Kelly’s unexpected death has concerned a lot of fans as the actress reportedly did not have any major health issues. However, the cause of her death has not been revealed by her family. On the other hand, her younger sister, Jamie had often spoken about her struggles. For the unversed, she was once an alcoholic.
A while ago, Kelly Curtis’ younger sister named Jamie Lee Curtis took to her social media account to announce the heartbreaking news of the former’s demise. She shared a photo of Kelly and penned a heartwarming note for her. In the same, she revealed that Kelly passed away peacefully at her home. Further, she described her older sister as beautiful, talented and her first friend. A part of her tribute can be read as:
"A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace. She was my first friend and lifelong confidant. She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a devoted American patriot."
Jamie Lee Curtis also recalled how Kelly Curtis used to end any message with Hungarian blessing, Isten Veled, which translates to God is with you, in English. Concluding the note, Jamie used the same Hungarian phrase and explained that she will always be remembered for her generosity, fierce opinions and endless curiosity. Her note can be read as:
"She will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas, hence her name, Auntie Cookie. Kelly always signed off any message or fare thee well with a Hungarian blessing…Isten Veled, God is with you. Isten Veled to my sister of the sun and the moon, my Tai. I'll see you on down the line."
As soon as Jamie Lee Curtis’ social media post went viral, multiple fans offered strength and condolences to the family. One fan commented, "I'm so very sorry, Jamie, for the loss of your Beloved Sister, Kelly. Just know the Angels trumpeted her return back Home to Heaven." Another user shared, "Sincere condolences for your loss. I lost my only brother. May you find comfort in the memories you shared together. Peace be with you and your family." A third user penned, "Oh gosh but she was gorgeous inside and out. I'm so sorry for this harsh loss."
For those unaware, Kelly Curtis was a popular actress, like her parents, Tony and Janet. Reportedly, Kelly was born in 1956 and at a young age she discovered her passion for acting. In the 1958 movie, The Vikings, Kelly had a brief appearance. Later, she appeared in films like Some Like It Hot, Trading Places, Magic Sticks, The Devil's Daughter and more. Apart from this, Kelly also won hearts with her roles in The Sentinel, The Equalizer, Hunter, Silk Stalkings and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
