Mona Singh appeared on Amitabh Bachchan hosted 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 17', and shared some interesting moments.
Mona Singh has successfully made a name for herself in the industry. The lady who started as a 'plain Jane' in television with her debut serial, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, went on to star with big names such as Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Bobby Deol. Recently, the actress appeared on Amitabh Bachchan's show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 17.
Mona Singh marked her presence on KBC 17 to promote her upcoming film, Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jassos. She talked about her struggle period on the show, and revealed how difficult it was for her to bag Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. Mona revealed that she would take an Ashiad bus from Pune every day to travel to Mumbai for an audition. They conducted almost 50 auditions for her. She said:
"I found out that Deeya and Tony (producers) were working on a project and auditions were underway, so I went for it. I cleared the first round, and then they kept calling me back for the third, fourth, and fifth rounds. In total, I ended up giving around 50 auditions. At one point, I asked the makers if they were even planning to cast me, as I was spending so much on auditions. They then told me it was a big show and that I had been finalised."
For those who don't know, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin gave Mona Singh immense success and love. She soon became a household name and she proved the Indian audience that beauty is not the only parameter to judge a person in the early 2000s, when it was considered a cliche. She is now famously known for her empowering films, OTT performances, courtesy of her varied roles.
Mona Singh has been looking radiant and it is due to her surprising weight loss journey. In a conversation with Instant Bollywood, Mona revealed that she had lost 15 kg of weight. When further asked about the reason, Mona admitted it was for her upcoming role, which she can't discuss much.
Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mona Singh talked about having self-doubt in her career. She shared that she was once called Podgy for her weight gain. Recalling the incident, Mona revealed that she was clicked at a party right after her television serial, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. She was having fun as she was on a break, and some publications clicked her picture and wrote, 'Mona seemed a bit podgy'.
Mona shared that she felt bad about how people put a woman down for her weight, and they do not care about her achievements at all. She wondered if the world only sees the weight. Mona was quoted as saying:
"I was clicked at a party, it was right after Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, I was on a break. I was eating, I was having fun, I didn’t care about how I was looking. I went to a party, I got clicked and there was this article that said ‘Mona seemed a bit podgy.’ God, I was like really? Is this news for you, is that journalism? You’re putting a woman down, you don’t care about her achievements or who she is and what she has done in life. You’re seeing her weight, I felt so bad, I was like really, I mean that’s all they see in a person."
