Kaylee has often credited her parents, Joshua Hottle and Ketsi Carlson, also known as Ketsi Hottle, for boosting her confidence. Kaylee, due to her parents, could boost her confidence, and she could embrace the Deaf culture from a very early age.

Kayle Hottle's father, Joshua Hottle, has been a native ASL user and hails from a family that has four generations of Deaf relatives. Joshua has always advocated Deaf awareness and has always encouraged Kaylee in her personal life. Kylie is best known to play 'Jiya' and producer Alex Garcia, in an interview with Hollywood Life, had shared:
"Finding the right girl to play Jia was an incredible challenge. We had to look outside of the traditional casting channels to find her, and Kaylee, whom we were very fortunate to cast, had never been in a film before. But through a network of casting directors and theaters, our terrific casting director, Sarah Halley Finn, was able to locate her. And the moment we met Kaylee, we knew she was the right girl for the part.”
