Sunjay Kapur's sudden passing has shaken the dynamics of his children with his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor. As they fight for their inheritence, Karisma Kapoor penned a note for her ex-husband.
The Kapoors and the Kapurs found themselves embroiled in another legal battle, but this time it was for the rights of Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira Kapur and Kiann Kapur. They were left shocked when a will was presented within months of Sunjay Kapur's sudden death. As the legal battle is still ongoing, Karisma penned an anniversary note for her late ex-husband, Sunjay.
Karisma and Sunjay's divorce wasn't amicable. There were a lot of blame games and rumours that showed Sunjay in a negative limelight, but over the years, as the two co-parent their kids together, the differences dissolved, and they were often seen together. In fact, Karisma never stopped her children from meeting their late father or his current wife, Priya Kapur.
But the passing of Sunjay changed everything for the Kapoors, and they had to fight for the children's inheritance rights in their father's property. June 12, 2026, marks the first death anniversary of Sunjay Kapur, and Karisma Kapoor made sure to remember on the fateful day. She took to her Instagram handle and shared an IG story, and wrote:
"12/6/2025 Sunjay in our hearts forever."
Those who have passed no longer care about these notes on social media, but those who are alive know the value of remembering their loved ones on the most dreadful day. Priya made sure to share her heart out on the death anniversary of her husband. She posted a photograph of Sunjay Kapur with a strong message. She captioned it as:
"A year without you. Still the first thought in the morning and the last thought at night."
In the tribute message, she wrote how a year has passed since Sunjay left, and yet his presence continues to guide them. She shared how Sunjay never believed in standing still and embraced life with energy, curiosity, and conviction, inspiring all to dream big. However, the highlight was that the note was signed by Mrs Rani Kapur, Priya Kapur and the family. It read:
"A year has passed since you left, yet your presence continues to guide us every single day. You never believed in standing still. You embraced life with energy, curiosity and conviction, inspiring those around you to dream bigger, work harder and give more of themselves. You remain deeply loved and forever remembered in the values you lived by, the lives you touched and the love you gave so generously. Your love remains our strength. Your memory remains our blessing."
As soon as Priya's post was shared on social media, netizens flooded the comment section. One user pointed out that if Rani was staying with Priya and wrote, "Is Rani Kapur staying with you???" Another one commented, "Sunjay was a special person who left behind so many beautiful memories. I hope you find comfort in those moments today. Wishing you peace and strength." A third netizen penned, "Sending the family lots of love. Lovely to see this joint homage to Sunjay."
For those who don't know, after Sunjay Kapur's death, within a month, the Kapoor family knocked on the doors of the court to seek justice for Samaira and Kiaan in their father's estate. They alleged that a deliberate digital manipulation of files was involved in the case.
Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Kapur, have moved to the Delhi High Court to seek a share in their father's property. They urged to be recognised as Class 1 legal heirs to Kapur's personal assets in the late businessman's Rs. 30,000 crore estate. In the lawsuit, they made shocking revelations against Priya Sachdev. They accused Sunjay Kapur's third wife, Priya Sachdev, of usurping the 'full control' over their father's assets.
We pray for the family as they navigate the tough process of losing the pillar of their family.
