Meanwhile, an old post of Kanye West has now resurfaced where he claimed that his daughter has joined TikTok against his will. The rapper seemingly addressed his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, in the same post.
Kanye West shared the post through Instagram in February 2022. While the post has now been deleted, he wrote: “Since this is my first divorce I need to know what I should do about my daughter being put on TikTok against my will?”
Shortly after Kanye’s post went viral, Kim responded with a lengthy statement on her Instagram Story. She started by saying that Kanye's repeated attacks on her through interviews and social media were more painful than any TikTok video North might make, and mentioned that she is the one who mainly takes care and provides for their children.
Kim further stated that she was trying her best to keep their daughter safe while also letting her be creative in a way that makes her happy, with an adult watching over her. She went on to say that divorce is already hard on their kids and that Kanye's constant need to control and negatively portray their situation in public was only adding to everyone's pain.
Kardashian continued by saying that from the start she only wanted a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship because that would be best for their kids, and that it was upsetting that Kanye was making that impossible at every step. The reality star and businesswoman also added that she wished to handle such issues in private from now on and hoped they could sort things out peacefully.
North West has been developing a bold sense of personal style, though Kim Kardashian and Kanye West continue to set boundaries for their eldest daughter. In a cover interview for Dazed that was published on August 24, 2026, North shared that she would like to get a bridge piercing but is not permitted to.
North shared that piercings make her feel more like herself, adding that a bridge piercing is the one she still hopes to get. The piercing is placed horizontally across the skin at the top of the nose, between the eyes. She did not share the reason why Kardashian and West have said no to it.
North has previously been seen with dermal piercings on her hands, fingers, and thighs. Different from a regular ear or nose piercing, a dermal piercing involves an anchor placed under the skin to hold the jewelry that is visible on the surface. The metal studs bring a sharp touch to the oversized outfits, dark shades, and playful accessories that are often part of her wardrobe. She has also tried out long blue hair, cheek studs, pointed grills, and black dental jewelry.
Kim Kardashian has earlier described the public discussion around North's appearance as a small matter. In October 2025, the joint TikTok account of Kim and North reacted to criticism by referring to the conversation as a non-issue. Kardashian later mentioned on the Call Her Daddy podcast that her daughter stays confident even when people do not like her blue hair or other style choices.
North's public style change became particularly visible when she first appeared with blue hair in June 2025. Since that time, she has combined bright hair colors with temporary grills, visible piercings, oversized clothing, and bold accessories.
