English actor, Jude Law, is widely known for his role as 'Anthony Minghella', in the psychological thriller film, The Talented Mr. Ripley. Currently, Jude is hogging the limelight for his look in the film, The Wizard of the Kremlin. For the unversed, in the 2025 political drama, he played the real-life character of Russian President, Vladimir Putin. While Jude's perfect transformation is grabbing the limelight, people have shown special interest in knowing more about his personal life. Jude is married to Phillipa Coan. The couple shares two children. But do you know that before finding love in Phillipa Coan, Jude was married to Sadie Frost? Yes, you read it right. The former couple’s messy divorce was once the talk of the town.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Jude Law and Sadie Frost first met in 1994. At the time, Jude was 19, and Sadie was 26. Back then, Jude was struggling hard to establish his foothold in the acting industry, and Sadie was a mom to a son whom she shares with her now ex-husband, Spandau Ballet singer, Gary Kemp. Although she was married to Gary, Sadie felt a strong connection with Jude, and eventually they became a couple.
Jude and Sadie Frost got married in 1997. They share three children, a son named Rafferty, a daughter named Iris and a son named Rudy. However, their seemingly happy marriage hit a rough patch after nearly six years of togetherness. The former pair was given a "quickie divorce" in February 2023. In the court documents, Sadie cited that Jude’s unreasonable behaviour increased the effects of her post-natal depression. The legal documents mentioned that Sadie had to seek treatment thrice.
In August 2003, Sadie Frost opened up about her separation from Jude to the media. She mentioned that it took her time to accept that her marriage to Jude was over. She stated that although they had parted ways, their children are their number one priority. She added that it took her six months to talk about her divorce from Jude. She was quoted as saying:
"I have come very reluctantly to the decision that my marriage to Jude is over. We have agreed that a divorce is the only way forward, but we have equally agreed that we will do everything in our power to make certain that this is as painless a process as possible for the benefit of the children. They are our number one priority and have always been so and will remain so. It took six months to think about the statement, and I've no further comment to make."
In a 2010 interview with the Irish Examiner, Jude Law’s ex-wife, Sadie Frost, spoke about her autobiography, Crazy Days. In the book, she discussed about her relationship with her ex-husband, Jude Law. She called their early moments of love great. Recounting the memories, Sadie Frost shared that it reminded her of Jude’s importance in her life. She called him the love of her life. She added that he was a wonderful partner and the best dad. For the uninitiated, the former couple shares three children. She was quoted as saying:
"Everyone has to remember those early parts of falling in love. They're great memories, and I'm glad the children can read them. It reminds me how important he was, is, to me. He was the love of my life, and he's been the most important relationship of my life. He was a wonderful partner, and he's a great dad."
