For the unversed, the Transformers actor has been married to Audra Mari since 2022. During an interview, Josh shared that his wife had placenta previa, making the birth of their daughter extremely difficult and painful.
Recently, Josh Duhamel appeared on Live With Kelly and Mark, during which he opened up about the birth of their daughter, Rocca. For those unaware, Josh and his wife, Audra welcomed their daughter in May 2026. Recalling the challenges of her birth, Josh revealed that his wife suffered with placenta previa, which made the childbirth extremely difficult.
Further, the actor revealed that placenta previa was the main reason the doctors opted for C-section. He also thanked the modern medical technologies for taking the best care of his wife, Audra monitored her throughout. In his words:
"It was really hard on Audra, to be honest. She had this thing called placenta previa, which means the placenta was sitting between the baby and the cervix. That’s how women used to bleed out back in the day. Thankfully we have modern medicine and everything. So we knew it was there."
In the same interview, Josh Duhamel also revealed that his wife insisted on going to the hospital days before the scheduled delivery date. As per the actor, Audra had a strange dream in which he tapped her on the nose. After that, she felt something was wrong and ultimately insisted on going to the hospital immediately. Without wasting time, they rushed to the hospital. Josh Duhamel was quoted as saying:
"I won’t get into the gory details, but she said, ‘We got to go'. So, we rushed into the car, raced through about five red lights, and then had the baby two hours later."
For those who do not know, Josh and Audra, as of now, are parents to two children - a boy named Shepherd and a girl, Rocca. During the same interview, Josh was asked his son’s reaction to his little sister and explained that he is still adjusting to it, adding, "but he also accidentally kicks her in the head."
Amid Josh Duhamel’s recent revelation about the challenges his wife faced during the birth of their daughter, an old statement of the actor has resurfaced. In 2025, he had a conversation with US Weekly, during which he revealed that even though he has played hundreds of characters on-screen, the best one is the role of a father. Talking about the responsibility, he shared:
"I work a lot, and I often have a lot of guilt about not being there as often as I could be. So I try to maybe overcompensate or do things to be there often."
Josh Duhamel's relationship with Audra Mari began in 2019, two years after his separation from Fergie. Josh and Audra, despite having an age difference of nearly 21 years, slowly and gradually fell in love. In 2022, Josh proposed to his ladylove by writing a handwritten message inside a bottle. The same year, the couple tied the knot.
Two years later, in 2024, the couple welcomed their son, Shepherd Lawrence Duhamel in 2024, and in May 2026 they completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Rocca. Apart from this, Josh is the father of a son, Axl Jack Duhamel, whom he shares with his ex-wife.
