After '19 Kids and Counting' fame, Joseph Duggar's arrest for molesting a minor, legal document details have surfaced where the victim described what Joseph did to her during the 2020 vacation.
The teen victim of Joseph Duggar, the former reality TV star from TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, has spoken up about the multiple instances of lewd molestation that she endured from him during a family vacation in Florida. The minor, now 14, spoke to investigators about what allegedly took place during that 2020 vacation when she was nine years old. Details from the affidavit have surfaced, including details about what Joseph said in his confession when the victim's father confronted him via phone call.
Joseph Duggar, 31, was arrested on March 18, 2026, in Bay County, Florida, on charges of inappropriate sexual advances towards a minor during a 2020 family vacation, when the victim was allegedly only nine years old. Recently, PEOPLE obtained details from the victim's forensic interview with a Tontitown detective as filed in the arrest warrant affidavit.
The incident allegedly took place during a vacation in 2020, when the then-nine-year-old visited Panama City Beach with her family. Joseph, then 25, was one of the guests there, also on his own family trip. The minor (plaintiff) told investigators that her interactions with the 19 Kids star began as casual contact but later became inappropriate over time, and she reportedly felt uncomfortable and confused during the situation. Joseph (defendant) reportedly asked her to "sit on his lap, numerous times," adding:
"[She] would sit on the defendant’s lap, [and he would then] cradle [her] with his arms."
Things reportedly escalated with every passing day, with Joseph making more inappropriate advances the longer they were on vacation. In explicit details shared with forensic experts, the 14-year-old described how Joseph started asking her to "sit on the couch beside [him]" and then "covered the parties with a blanket," before pulling her dress up and touching her inappropriately.
Investigators revealed that Joseph Duggar was 25 and already a father of two when he reportedly molested the minor. Even more shockingly, his wife, Kendra Duggar, was pregnant with the couple's third child, Brooklyn, on that vacation trip. To mention, Joseph and Kendra are now parents to four children, sons Garrett and Justus, and daughters Addison and Brooklyn.
Joseph has since been arrested and is facing multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious conduct involving a minor under 12. He is currently awaiting extradition to Florida as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, his wife, Kendra Duggar, 27, was also taken into custody and faces multiple charges related to child welfare. She was later released on a USD 1,470 bond.
The court documents also mentioned that the investigators arranged a recorded phone call between Joseph Duggar and the alleged victim’s father as part of the investigation, typically conducted under police supervision to gather statements. During the "pretext phone call," Joseph reportedly acknowledged his lewd behaviour, admitting that he had inappropriately touched her and that his intentions at the time "were not pure."
Joseph's first court hearing took place on Friday, March 20, 2026 (ET), where he appeared virtually via Zoom. He has reportedly waived his rights to an extradition hearing and will be transferred from Arkansas to Florida, where he will face child molestation charges. Many of Joseph's siblings, including his sister Jinger Duggar Vuolo, spoke about his arrest, saying:
"I did not think my heart could break like it has this week. The pain and heartbreak that we've had over this and just thinking of how it's affected so many, yeah, it's just unthinkable. It's so hard and painful on many levels."
