Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey is one of the most-awaited movies, which has been generating a lot of buzz on social media. For those who do not know, the film is expected to hit the theatres in July 2026. Well, recently, filmmaker and Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan opened up about the upcoming film.

Recently, Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan had a conversation with CinemaBlend, during which he opened up about the much-awaited film, The Odyssey. Jonathan stated that he is not a part of the film, but has watched it and called it a ‘spectacular’ movie. Jonathan also recalled being fascinated by Iliad and The Odyssey when he was young. Jonathan was quoted as saying:

"I’m not working on The Odyssey. I have seen The Odyssey. It’s tremendous. It’s an incredible achievement… I was fascinated by the Iliad and The Odyssey when I was younger, and I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film."

What to expect from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about films of 2026. It is scheduled to have a worldwide release on July 17, 2026. Reportedly, the upcoming film is based on Homer's poem, The Odyssey. The plot will follow 'Odysseus', the king of Ithaca, who struggles to return home after the epic Trojan War. He takes ten years to return and his entire journey is filled with danger, courage and determination. On the other hand, the film is also expected to show the struggles of his wife, 'Penelope' and 'Telemachus'.

In November 2025, Christopher Nolan sat down for a candid conversation with the Empire Magazine, during which he opened up about his upcoming film, The Odyssey. He also shared his motivation behind making the film. Further, Christopher explained that The Odyssey includes all stories that one would want to know. In his words:

"I mean, it truly contains all stories. As a filmmaker, you’re looking for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done before. And what I saw is that all of this great mythological cinematic work that I had grown up with- Ray Harryhausen movies and other things- I’d never seen that done with the sort of weight and credibility that an A-budget and a big Hollywood, IMAX production could do."
