Jenny Slatten who rose to fame with her TLC series, 90 Day Fiance, has been diagnosed with ALS. The 68-year-old, in an Instagram post featuring her Indian husband, Sumit Singh, revealed that she is battling the disease, and talked about her shocking diagnosis.
As the couple talked about finding a solution to the tough journey, all eyes were on her husband, Sumit Singh. Jenny married a Delhi-based man who is 30 years younger than her. Read on to know all about Sumit Singh amidst Jenny's ALS diagnosis.
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh have been together since 2012. The two met each other online and fell in love. Sumit, who is 30 years younger than Jenny, handled all the ups and downs to get married to his love, Jenny, from seven seas away. Their story was documented on the reality show, 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way.
Jenny and Sumit's love story started in 2012 when they met online, but he faked his identity and introduced himself as a 25-year-old British man. However, Jenny, who lived in California at that time, instantly fell in love with Sumit and later found out about his true identity. However, she didn't walk away from him despite knowing the truth later, and chose to give him a chance. In 2013, Jenny travelled to India to meet him for the first time.
Due to the huge age gap, Sumit's parents were against the union. In fact, his mother strongly opposed it. The couple's relationship has been the favourite of TLC's series lovers. Coming back to Jenny, she always stood with Sumit, even when she found out about his arranged marriage. After which, he promised to divorce his previous wife and be with her. After which, she went to India to be with Sumit, and they got married in 2021.
On May 19, 2026, Jenny shared how life had thrown another curveball in their happily ever after as she had been diagnosed with ALS. She revealed that there was a rumour that she had a stroke, and the couple had thought of keeping the diagnosis private, but it was extremely emotional for them to handle it alone. She shared:
"With a heavy heart we wanted to share a news with all of you guys. That, there was a rumor that I had a stroke, but it turned out to be ALS. At first, we tried to keep it private because it’s been very emotional and overwhelming for us. We were hoping to find some kind of solution before speaking publicly. But after trying for some time, we feel like it’s time to reach out. Thank you so much for all the love and support. Right now, we are open to any kind of help — treatments, clinical trials, lifestyle changes, or anything that could help treat this disease or slow down its progression."
In an interview with People, Jenny Slatten revealed that she was diagnosed with ALS in December 2025, one year after she developed symptoms. And her first symptom appeared in December 2024 when she choked while drinking water, as per her husband. After which, she started suffering from painful migraines and struggled to swallow pills. Jenny and Sumit are taking all the right steps as they move forward in their battle with ALS. They are putting best efforts in treating the disease. She revealed her diagnosis ahead of her appearance on season 3 of 90 Day: The Last Resort, which will premiere on June 1, 2026.
