Jennifer Lopez's former publicist, who worked with her during the original 'Bennifer' (Jennifer and Ben Affleck) breakup in 2004, recently opened up on how she manages her public image and maintains "the JLo brand." The PR person told the Daily Mail that the On The Floor singer is well-versed in the ways of the celebrity world and knows what she needs most to stay relevant, even while being relatively inactive at work or being embroiled in controversies like a divorce drama.
The source claimed that Jennifer knew her body was her most crucial asset and she needed to flaunt it to keep her brand name buzzworthy. The publicist cited the example of Jennifer's recent appearance in Santa Monica in early September 2026, where she was spotted by paps in her maroon gymwear, which perfectly flaunted her curves. The PR recalled a Hollywood manager sharing this information with him and stated:
"'Jennifer understands the celebrity machine better than almost anyone,' a Hollywood manager told me the first day I started working with her. 'And she knows her body is one of the most powerful assets of the JLo brand.'"
The PR further claimed that Jennifer's sudden shift to a bolder public persona was a deliberate strategy to rebuild her image. She used to give off a lover-girl vibe when she was with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck. However, post their divorce, Jennifer wanted her fans to see her differently. Her former publicist, who had been by her side during her split with Ben, shared that JLo was trying to bring back her strong, sensual, and self-dependent side. In the PR's words:
"After Ben, she wanted the story to become JLo again- sexy, successful, independent, and completely in control."
Jennifer's former publicist thinks she is resorting to revealing outfits and showcasing her bolder side to send out the message that her world hasn't come to an end following her divorce. They added, "Nothing, in my opinion, demonstrates her control more effectively than her body. It communicated that she is not hiding, not sitting home crying. She's hot, booked, and getting paid. Very well paid"

Talking about her past breakups, including her much-talked-about divorce from Ben Affleck, the Can't Get Enough singer explained that breakups should be seen as life lessons to learn from and move on, rather than dwelling on them. In her words:
"Breakups are not a failure. I honestly feel like it's a launchpad into your next best self. We should have a party when we break up. People should say, 'You broke up? Congratulations.' Because one, you made a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody. If you go around your life and you're breaking hearts… you're the loser."
Further, Jennifer Lopez shared that she has learned a lot from heartbreaks, both in her personal and professional life. The actress explained that with every heartbreak, she used to question herself about how she could work on things and improve herself. Explaining the same, Jennifer said, "I just feel like the biggest growth spurts I've had emotionally, mentally, psychologically have always come from a heartbreak... It's the only time you dig...What could I have done better?' You change yourself."
