For the unversed, the vice captain of the Indian women's cricket team, Smriti Mandhana, was all set to tie the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Palaash Muchhal, on November 23, 2025. After the Indian women's cricket team’s historic win in the World Cup 2025, all eyes were on the wedding of Smriti and Palaash. However, the marriage got postponed at the last moment due to a family emergency. Soon, several speculations circulated online involving Palaash’s alleged cheating. After maintaining a dignified silence, a while ago, both Smriti and Palaash addressed the buzz surrounding their cancelled wedding.
After Smriti and Palaash publicly addressed the matter, the former’s close friend, Jemimah Rodrigues, shared a cryptic post on her Instagram Stories. The post featured a group of young singers. However, the song they sang caught our attention. It is the 2025 hit song of Olivia Dean, Man I Need. An excerpt of the song lyrics can be read as:

On December 7, 2025, Smriti Mandhana took to her Instagram Stories and clarified that her wedding with music composer, Palaash Muchhal, had been called off. She shared a note and wrote that for the past few weeks, there have been numerous speculations around her life, but now it is the right time to speak about it. She mentioned that being a 'private person,' she wants to keep things personal. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
"Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same."
In the same note, Smriti Mandhana shared that her higher purpose in life has always been representing her country. She expressed her hope to continue playing and winning trophies for India. She highlighted that her focus will forever be cricket. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
"I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me, that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It's time to move forward."
